What’s happening in your state?

In the past few years most states have adopted rigorous new education standards (aka the Common Core State Standards) and new tests. But depending where you live, that means very different things.

Some states adopted tests from the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC); others opted for tests developed by Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).

Still other states created their own tests or contracted with other testing companies. To make it all more complicated, some states are still making changes to how they test their students.

Do you have a 3rd through 8th grader attending a public school in the United States? If so, they may have taken new Common Core tests last spring.

If you’re just receiving your child’s new state test results, our GreatSchools State Test Guide will help you make sense of them!
