After being at a variety of schools (parochial, private, public) due to career moves and many children, I honestly feel that our well ranked public provides a superior experience educationally, socially, and the like, in comparison to this alternative having had children graduate from here and also other schools that were not private and were / are much better prepared for college (having had some graduate from college already) and also better prepared for real life in terms of well-roundedness etc....in my experience only of course...and therefore, in my personal opinion.

This is one of the finest college prep programs in the East. The teachers are excellent and treat the children with respect yet demanding a lot of work. If your child enjoys DOing, consider Archmere. The communication from school to home is very good, however the school could make better use of its website, particularly in athletics. As far as sports are concerned, there are many non-cut sports available and if your child is of average skill in a particular sport he/she will have a very good chance of making the team.

Archmere is not for everyone. They offer a very challenging curriculum for highly motivated students. The students who choose this school seem to be very goal oriented. Personally, it has been a wonderful experience for my daughter.

Archmere is a wonderful school. My son graduated in 2001 and loved the school. He is in his second year at Lehigh and made the Honor Society and thinks his preparation for college was the best. He had 24 credits from Archmere count as college credits so he is a semester ahead of his conterparts. Archmere preprared him for college exceptionally. He was also an athlete at Archmere and we found the coaches to have a proper appreciation for athletics and scholastics. It's not the place to go if athletics is primary concern. Archmere is the best.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
