I would like to follow up to the review written yesterday. My son is a middle school student at DMSHS and we are VERY pleased with the school, the education he is receiving, the involvement of his teachers and the administration, and even the cafeteria. We appreciate the dress code and the zero tolerance policy for behavior. This makes my son's learning environment so much more conducive to learning. All questions posed to both teachers, counselors, and administrators have been answered quickly and concerns addressed promptly, if necessary. I have complete confidence in the level of security, education, and spirit of community that is present at Delmar. I have and will continue to speak highly of this school; we feel very blessed that our children will have an opportunity to learn and grow at such a great school!
I have many complaints about this school. Teachers are constantly out and being replaced by substitutes that know nothing about the subject. The Principal and Vice Principal do not play a part in the school hardly at all. The cafeteria food is AWFUL. That's not even a joke. The hotdogs taste like rubber, cookies are always over or under cooked, the food is usually cold, the apples and bananas are always rotten, burgers are crunchy and soggy, and kids have noticed mold in wraps from the deli. The dress codes aren't cool, but they aren't that hard to get used to. Many teachers do not care about their students grades, and tend to give work before teaching the students the material. Overall, this is not a very good school anymore. They need to make serious changes, and fast.
the staff and comunity involvment are amazing. like nothing i have ever seen.
I attended Delmar throughout my middle and high school careers. I graduated in 2008 as the valedictorian. The education I received was exceptional. Even though it is a public school, I would hold up my educational career there against any private school graduate. The teachers are excellent and the school spirit is unmatched. Delmar should unquestionably be a top choice for any parent in the area.
The best school with greatest caring teachers!
i grew up an went to delmar school..and now my daughter goes there...the school really strives to be good at enforcing positive learning an sports for the kids...im so glad my dAughter goes there.
Moving out of the school district and will miss it greatly! Retention rate for teachers good because most of them live in tbe community. Opportunities for both athletics and academics. Delmar often grabs high scores in state testing. Reciprocal program at local college so students can start college with real credits.
Delmar is a great school! the best i've been to so far<3
I am a parent with three children attending Delmar Middle and Sr. High. I have mixed feelings about the school. We love tha athletic program and think the coaches are great but on the other hand we do not think the school is prepairing our children for college. The principles are ruining the Delmar atmosphere. Things were great at Delmar, So I don't understand why all the changes. Ever since this administration started all the changes the school has gone down hill. Teachers aren't happy and students aren't happy.
As a former student currently in college, I think Delmar values sports and extracurricular activities over actual academic programs. Delmar is especially weak when it comes to maths and sciences. Teachers are average, there are one or two that stand out. Safety was never an issue when I was in Delmar. Leadership is somewhat weak.
