I have a new 6th grader at H.B. and she s loving middle school! It s our assigned school, and we considered other options, but chose H.B. after a visit - it felt like the best fit and it's sure working out that way. My daughter s a strong student, so I was looking for excellence in academics I was impressed by the high rate of H.B. grads that go on to top high school programs. Her teachers have indeed been great and, like the admins, communicate consistently. Another priority was access to variety in activities. H.B. has incredible art and music staff that my daughter enjoys; there are activity blocks that encourage staff and students to explore interests across the grades (like a more engaging study hall). Sports are strong and there are many clubs like yearbook, technology, Odyssey of the Mind, Honor Society, science/math competitions. Last but for me, not least - the student body is among the most diverse you will find - including the presence of a program for disabled students. Overall it creates a very dynamic environment to prepare students for their next phase of education and the diverse world beyond. We're definitely proud to be Warriors.

I am very happy to have a 7th grader at H.B. duPont Middle School who is thriving and has enjoyed the diverse academic and extracurricular activities at HB. My daughter attended HB over 3 years ago and I can tell there has been a very positive shift in the behavior of the students as well as the pride the teachers have in the school. With opportunities to explore interests in Science, Math, Technology, Choir, Band, Athletics, Art, Family Consumer Science, and a wide variety of Activity Blocks, HB truly is the state's premier comprehensive middle school.

New principal has really made great strides the past 3 years. Addressing all disciple issues creating a safe learning environment. Bringing activity blocks to the day has greatly improved student and teacher moral.

It's rather absurd that this website rated this outstanding school a 5 on a scale of 10. I've been around the district, and around the state - and this school is not a 5/10 school. My colleagues are among the most dedicated professionals with whom I've ever worked. The academics are superb. Extra-curricular activities suit everyone and wonderfully round out a great education. Exceptional support staff - advisers, counselors etc. All excellent. It's a great place to work under its outstanding leadership too. They let us get our job done. To put it simply, I love my job. I'm grateful to have the opportunity to work with these professionals in this school, and serve our community at a place where kids thrive, are happy, and are learning.

My son went here and had a couple problems. By the time he got home and told me about them the staff had taken care of everything. My daughter is now going here and is very happy and comfortable there. I would recommend this school to anyone.

I am a former student of the great Henry B. duPont Middle School! What I found so enjoyable was the science department's choice to switch science teachers every semester. Unfortunately, I was told this awesome and unique idea of rotating teachers once half the year passed was discontinued by the principal. Now H.B. can pride itself with having many extracurricular activities, and my one friend found himself extremely lucky that he switched classes in the middle of the year because Ms. Wisnoski saw that she should give him a spot on the Science Olympiad team. Although I, myself, was not a part of the SO team but i was proud to be part of a school which always did its best. To any future students, or any parents researching this middle school: If you want to be part of the Science Olympiad team, go for it. But it will be harder to get recognized or "deemed worthy" to be on the team if you do not have the class with the coordinator. Honestly, I find this unfair and harder for the teacher altogether to pick students to form a steady winning team.

I am a former student. I had a great time there and the teachers were very supportive. My favorite teacher was Ms. Wiz. When I was in 7th grade they did a split year, where we spent half the year with Ms. Wiz and half the year with the other science teacher. Now that I'm in high school, I can see greater value in this. Many high school classes are half year courses, so this was great practice! I heard that the new principal is trying to get rid of the half year switch, but I think it was really neat to get to meet both teachers. Ms. Wiz is not only a teacher, but she is in charge of HB's Science Olympiad team. Another bonus of the half year system is that Ms. Wiz gets to know every single 7th grader and pick the very best for the team. I had the privilege of going to Nationals on the HB team three times and I can truly say that these trips were my favorite part of middle school. My older sisters were a part of the HB Science Olympiad team when Ms. Wiz's parents were running it. When you participate on the Science Olympiad team and meet Ms. Wiz you can feel that strong family bond that she not only has to HB, but also Science Olympiad.

Review from a former student HB is a great school, in both education and extracurriculars. The teachers tailor to your educational needs, and an unique thing that the 7th Grade Science Department did was to have one science teacher for half the year, then have the other science teacher for the second half. I personally am an advocate for schools to introduce programs such as this one, as it allows students to slowly adjust to the rapid changing of classes in high school and also lets the teachers specialize in a certain subject to teach for half the year. The class switching in the science department was also a major factor in the success of HB's Science Olympiad program, as it allowed the teachers to see which students have good potential to participate in the HB science Olympiad team, which has won the state tournament 20+ years running. Unfortunately, I have heard that the new principal has discontinued this. HB also has an outstanding athletics program. These sports programs help students to become better athletes, and superior coaching and teamwork results in many sports championships for HB. All in all, HB DuPont Middle School is a great choice for all students.

Outstanding public middle school with excellent academics, clubs, music, and athletics. Simply the best overall middle school in New Castle County with opportunities for all children. Its music program is stellar. Athletics are phenomenal. Activity blocks meet daily (and the kids love them). And the academic are superb to say the least. My son and daughter both attended, and are now doing extremely well in high school having had this experience of HB duPont.

HB is a wonderful school! The teachers and administration work hard on a daily basis to ensure that all students' needs are met. There are opportunities for students to have fun and engage with the academic programs. Also, Mr. Selekman is the best principal that you could ever ask for!

HB is a community that not only educates but also cares for students, and the HB team of teachers, administrators, and student support staff work tirelessly to help students succeed. Mr. Selekman is an innovative leader whose decisions are based solely on what is best for the students in his care. Even better, HB offers tours for interested families weekly. Come visit us and see for yourself.

I am a sixth grader who has gone here for the past 2 and a half weeks. While this isn't really enough time to write a review, I've gotten a general feel of the school. I'll break this into categories. Building/Atmosphere Our 6th grade wing is rather small and very easy to get around, that is when the hallways are empty. The hallways are always cluttered between classes and especially when we're dismissed to go to lunch. The worst part is where room 121,116, and 118 are in. If you've seen inside the school before you'll know what I'm talking about. There are lockers on both sides, so some students are trying to get stuff from their lockers while other students are trying to get through the hallway. It just makes for a cluttered mess. The classrooms are always nice and organized though. Staff So far most of the staff has been awesome. Always helping us, knowing it's a hard adjustment and that most of us are new to this. However, one complaint is that teachers don't seem to notice when just a few students are talking, and they blame the entire classroom. All my teachers I've had so far are nice and welcoming. though. Students I'm out of space, may need another review.

I'm a former student at HB duPont I've been there for 2 years going on my final year and let me just say HB is a great school despite all the negative things kids say its not true. Our teachers make sure we are on top of what we are suppose to be doing our principle is the best one yet he comes into our classes everyday and he ask what it is we learn and what we do. All of the students at HB look out for each other and we don't judge or bully people because we all want to feel equal. Our hallways aren't cluttered all grade dismiss at different times FYI but hey what do I know I've only been there for 6-7 and going on 8th grade you know nothing about HB duPont and our ranking is higher then any other school in the Red Clay School district so you all might wanna think again before bad mouthing the school that help me come this far and is gonna take me a long way I've passed with flying colors and the grades I have I earned and with the help and devotion of my teachers and principle. If you don't believe my word go to tourist Tuesdays and see what it's like and then maybe you'll think about re-writing your review because obviously you guys no nothing about HB DuPont

This middle school is average. The academics are pretty good, but they really don't know how to place kids in proper math classes. I was in placed in Honors in sixth grade and had to ask to be moved up to Algebra 1 in seventh, and now I am passing Geometry with flying colors! ELA is pretty good and at times, challenging, with essays and what not. The cons of this school are that the students are really rude. They threaten to hit others and are quite racist. There are also "cliques" that are very exclusionary. But then again, there are nice students. I recommend this school if you can handle bullying once in a while and lots of work.

This Middle School truly has given me fantasic opportunities to success. Friends are easy to make. The band and choir has gotten outstanding and superior awards from festivals from PA, Bahamas, Vriginia, Hershey Park, Dorney Park, Six Flags, New York City, Myrtle Beach. The band has been invited to BUNCH and I mean it, BUNCH of places. Teachers are trustworthy and the staff is wonderful, always having a smile on there faces. The office supports the kids all the time. The principle is so helpful towards all students and makes sure the school is running beautifully as it already is. The Math League team for H.B. has always gotten 1st place and the other school just can't seem to beat this smart school. Awards are handed out to this school constantly. I have learned so much things and ideas. This school has prepared me for the up-coming outstacles, such as high school. This is a amazing school. I have learned many things and proud to say that I attend this middle school.
