North Star continues to shine as a school community filled with both heart and talent. Teachers advocate for each child's success, they believe in each child's potential, and they value each student for their unique strengths and personalities. Building administration is welcoming, positive, and responsive to concerns. Parents pride themselves on being truly involved partners in their children's education. This school is in a class all its own!
I have had a terrible time with this school. The teachers who assist with the after school car line are consistently rude and disrespectful to parents. Additionally, they give confusing inconsistent direction from day to day. The main office has also provided me with inaccurate information on several occasions. My experience with this school has been a major disappointment. .
Relative to other elementary schools in the district, North Star is top notch. I believe this has a lot to do with their amazing PTA and overall parental involvement. Through their fundraising efforts, resources and volunteers, they're able to fund extracurricular activities and supplies for the school and individual classrooms. The foster a wonderful sense of community and school spirit.
NSE is the best school ever. Our daughter is in 3rd grade and she loves her teacher and her classmates... The parent involvement is amazing where some schools have to beg parents to volunteer NSE has to schedule parent involvement for school trips because everyone wants to go.. Our children are very lucky to learn in such amazing environment.
We are very happy at North Star. I have two children there, and we have had excellent teachers, excellent opportunities, and lots of fun. The children are generally from good family environments, well-behaved, and intelligent. The parental support is tremendous and the financial support from the PTA enables a lot of technology most public schools do not have access to. My children have participated in numerous activities, classes, and groups, and loved every minute of it. They have excelled academically and socially. I have had a great deal of interaction with administration, teachers, and support staff, and found all of them to be top-rate.
This review is to completely erase the April 16th posting(one star). I don't know what school her kids go to but it isn't North Star. The linden hill students WANTED to transfer to North Star, noone ever rode on their accomplishments! All of the children came from all over(catholic and private). These children are still excelling and all original students form linden hill moved up to middle school, so we know its the staff,Principal and students that make us excel! The principal is the main Key to making sure that all childrens needs are met. She is one of the best out there if your looking for a great education. Classrooms are full but no one is stuffed! class size is by the district not the principal! If your looking for a "daycare" , we do offer a wonderful before/after care program by the boys and girls club. I stay home& my kids beg to go there! Some kids use their allowance to pay for after care because they want to go but don't need to go! NO discipline issues. Obviously The "one star" parents child was the issue. North star is a highly ranked school with the best of the best teachers! aside from paying for a great education you get an even better one at North Star!!
I could not be happier with North Star. We wrestled with our decision to move our daughter from private, but I love this school better. The principal is amazing...she fires everyone up, both Ms. Patti and Ms. Scott have blown me away with their teaching skills and beyond the expected attention. The Parents are mostly very involved and the school always fares well in state wide competitions like Reflections, Odyssey, etc. I am so sad to have to move out of state and leave this treasure of a school.
North Star is average at best; riding on the accomplishments of the Linden Hill students that were matriculated there. Ifyou are looking for a'cookie-cutter' staff who is no more original than the ABC's then look no further. The sad thing is that there really is a very talented pool of teachers at this facility but they appear to be stiffled by the principal. The principal is obtuse and irreverant to anything but herself. With the recent turn in the economy I wonder how many more children can be stuffed into the classrooms. I find North Star just glorified day-care with a report card attached. The discipline issues that exist are troubling but ignored by the adminstrators. Buyer beware -
This school is awesome. It has an amazing principal, great teachers, and a proactive, highly involved Parent Faculty Association. Parents and teachers are very committed and work together to give children the best possible education. I could not ask for a better school for my children.
