Newark Charter is an excellent school! No bullying, clean and neat grounds, dedicated teachers, clear communication from school to home, diverse, great curriculum and always moving forward! What else can we want from our children's educators?
Amazing, wonderful, and fantastic. This school is built on parent involvement and a caring staff. The administration thinks of the students first in every aspect of managing the school. My grandchildren have learned much more in the early years of atttendance k-2 than I ever expected they would. The curriculum is well thought out and the teachers are very well qualified. It is admission by lottery, and those fortunate enough to gain admission are truly blessed with the best education this area has to offer! My enthusiasim grows daily!
This is last year of Newark Charter, and I love it! I'm so glad I had the opportunity to come and attend this school. The friends I've made, the teachers, and even the education is something I will cherish after this year.
My child attended this school last year for kindergarten. Unfortunately, we moved out of state so we are no longer there. This school was amazing and I couldn't have asked for anything better. Her teachers were VERY communicative, and firm but very kind. They genuinely cared about the children, not only on an educational level, but a personal level as well. I love the way they handled all situations with the children. The atmosphere at the school really makes you feel at home. All staff members were cheerful, kind and caring. You can just tell that the people at this school sincerely care about the children and parents and truly want the best for them in every way. It's unfortunate we had to leave, because I'm not finding anything here that can even compare to Newark Charter, but I wanted to leave feedback anyway to let everyone know what a wonderful school this is. Academics are amazing, she learned so much in the time that she was here and I am so impressed at how quickly she caught on to everything (again, thanks to the teachers). She really excelled in everything and I just couldn't be more pleased. Love this school and hope that they'll continue to do what they're doing.
This is my son's 4th & final year at NCS. As a NCS parent, I have been extremely impressed with the school as a whole. The academic curriculum is outstnading & goes above & beyond to prepare these kids to move on in their educations & in life. If you have the opportunity to & can get your kid in- go for it! You won't regret a day of it!
This school is amazing and I am so glad I attend NCS. The teachers are great and I love my friends at this school. Almost all the kids going to NCS really do care about their grades and academics. I am graduating this year as an 8th grader and I will miss this school so much! I think I will be very prepared in high school. The only thing I would complain about is sometimes the excessive amount of homework we recieve and the a few of the teachers should be a little bit more motivating and not act like a student is dumb when they get an answer incorrect.
I graduated from NCS last year and it was an awesome school! The teachers were nice and funny and if you asked for help, they would help you. The uniforms had different color choices so they weren't that boring really. It took me some time to adjust in 5th grade, but after that it went smoothly. Since there are phases, you have classes according to your level and I always had challenging stuff, so it prepared me a lot for later on. NCS prepared me a lot for high school since I was learning stuff that most kids wouldn't learn at that age. Now, I'm a freshman at Charter School Of Wilmington and so far, it's pretty good because we learned a lot of stuff last year, especially in math so that's pretty easy now.
I am in my 4th year of NCS and am graduating this year.Newark Charter is a wonderful school.Though fifth grade was a challenging transition year for me, I have learned so much. The environment is wonderful and supportive and you are always encouraged to succeed. I believe that NCS taught me what I will need to know for highschool and more.
I am in my 4th year of NCS and have to say this is the best middle school in Delaware. I am learning at a 10th grade standard and have taught at a very high level. The teachers are supportive, and parents are very connected. Every student gets the help they need, and I feel I benefitted greatly by going here and will recommend this school to any aspiring student.
I am graduating this year out of NCS and couldn't say that there is a better school out there. I am learning above my grade level and feel that I am prepared for anything! There is a lot of workload, but now I am not scared of homework and I know how to manage my time and skills. I learned so much, the environment is great, and the atmosphere is wonderful. These 4 years passed very quickly and I wish I could do these 4 years all over again!
I have a child in 8th grade who has been there since 5th. Although her first year was very challenging, she has done very well. I feel that she is well prepared for high school and beyond. My first grader on the other hand, is really strugling with the extremely rigorious program in the lower school. The staff has been offering all sorts of extra help, but I am very concerned about the appropriateness of their expectations at such a young age. I am stronly considering switching him to another school. NCS is not for everybody.
Newark Charter is a great school. i graduated this year and let me tell you with my 4 years of experienceing ncs it really helped me prepare for high school. im really glad that i attended ncs and it would be the right school for your child.
This is an awesome school with great academics and wonderful presentation of curriculum
Our daughter is a rising 4th grader at NCS, and she (and we) couldn't be happier. Her teacher was outstanding: patient, enthusiatic, caring, everything a great teacher should be. All her teachers, art, music, library, physical education, were truly dedicated; that is clear to see from our daughter's enthusiasm for learning and her love for her new school. (She even was taught the same math that her fifth-grade sister was being taught!) We are thrilled that she will spend the next 5 years at NCS! Our only complaint is that her sister couldn't get in! :)
Our Son attends Newark Charter Elementary - the school is fantastic and the staff are outstanding - a truly wonderful learning environment!
After looking at your list of top schools in the Newark De area. I found your listing inaccurate. There is no way that Brader and Keene were ranked higher then Newark Charter School if anything I would rank it Number 1. For Principle Leadership, Academics, Teachers and Safety. You cannot ask for a better school
Communication is excellent. Academics are rigorous. Homework is excessive for age/grade levels.
Well I graduated from charter this year 2007. Even though it is challenging I still loved every minute of it. The teachers make learing fun and make you think espically Mr. Hutchins. Even though you do get a lot of homework it makes you really prepared for high school. High school is a completely different world. Newark Charter made my middle school expericance amazing. Even though there isn't a playground and stuff its ok. Were meant to be there to learn and plus most middle schools don't have one. I was on the cheerleading team and president of student council. I recomend Newark Charter to everyone.
NCS has proved to be all that it claims to be and so much more. My child has been challenged academically and is learning to think outside the box. This child now loves to go to school and attributes his enthusiasm to the teachers. 'They are creative, fun and really care about us kids'. The first year is a challenge however the study skills and critical thinking skills they learn are the foundation for the years ahead. I am most impressed with the value placed on respect, integrity and responsibility. These kids are not only learning so much academically, but they are learning how to be good citizens. Could a parent want anything more in this day and age?
I have a child in 5th grade in newark charter coming from mainstream public school and I found yhe school to be very good but also very challenging, I enjoy the teachers, staff I get the feeling that the teachers, staff really care about the kids and school. I wish they would build a playground, there is nothing for the students to do at recess except sit, walk around and and listen to their i-pods,nintendods's. Not my idea of good exersise or being physically active.Overall a good school but could improve on minor things.
