My child goes to school at this TLK Newark, DE location. I don't know whether teachers really pay attention to the kids in her class on what they speak and all that. My daughter has learned bad words after going to this school so it definitely sounds like not a good location for the kids to put at. Lot of time I have seen teachers don't even care here. I don't trust the 5 star ratings below.. Sounds like they are made up by school staff.

Outstanding school, few after school activities, primary focus on education. I have children that attend this school they have excelled. they also were in other school systems within area and other states. No other elementary compares. Check out reading program has done wonders for our children. One child was in area school, was reading below level, 5 months into first year reading above level.

I agree with the above. The academics, small class size and teachers are wonderful; I can't say enough about how these qualities helped my children. Activities and athletics are secondary and you can seek them out if your child wants them like I did.

The academic program is great! The teachers are motivated and very involved with each child. It is a very open atmosphere between parent/teacher and administration. Classes move at the pace of the children and they use various methods to reinforce a topic. We've had fantastic teachers and a very positive experience. However, TLK lacks a music program for the academy, consistent second language (Spanish), library (current library is about 6 shelves of books) gym, lunchroom and classrooms are small with virtually no more room to expand. Extracurricular activities are close by but not part of the academic program offered. The individual parent involvement with a parent/teacher/admin is good. Collectively the PTO has a limited group of people that attend and fewer members who participate/support or implement PTO sponsored programs.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
