My son who is 5 yrs old was just diagnosed with Autism. He has been Autistic for over two yrs and no one saw it as such until he got to Brennan. I am so grateful to the staff here at the school because without them I wouldn't have gotten my son back. He came home yelling "mommie, mommie." I hadn't heard that in over 2 yrs, it brought tears of joy to my eyes! My son is in Kindergarten and already he has improved so fast that they are starting him on higher learning levels. I can't thank the Brennan School staff enough for all the hard work and dedication they give to our special children!

The Autism Program misleads parents of Autistic children to believe their children will receive services when in fact only a small number of children in DE who have Autism are receiving services.

My grandson is almost 3 and was diagnosed with high end of the spectrum in 12/09 and did not talk. He started to Brennen School 3/1/2010 and already is saying words and doing a lot of jabbering. I thank God for his improvements, and his doctor Karen Kelley that found the symptoms so soon and the teachers at Brennen are great and really has a strong desire to help these children. If you have never been involved with an austic child, you cannot imagine the struggle with child and parents. They are wonderful teachers and have the care and learning of these children at heart. Thanks Delaware for such great teachers!!

My daughter was assessed with autism last year. She entered the program only a few months ago and she is already showing so much improvement! I already feel eternally grateful to this school. I get almost daily reports on her progress there also which is very helpful.

I have a child who is diagnosed with high function autism. The teachers, therapists and para professionals here are loving and caring and committed to giving our special kids the best possible care and head start in life. We are extremely lucky in Delaware to have such a specialized school for our children. Folks in other parts of the country are not so lucky and may have to resort to expensive private therapy or inadequately trained teachers in regular public schools. However, we still do not have the parent involvement that one would expect in a special needs setting such as this. The DAP has a top notch staff from the director to the maintenance staff.
