I am an exparent of a student who attended Corpus Christi. At first, I thought having my son in a catholic school would continue to make him feel loved and cared for. Unfortunately, our lives took a different turn when I found out that he had been bullied all four years he attended the school. Had it not been because another student busted his eardrum, I never would had been aware of the situation. It was so hurtful and discouraging to see that no administrator and/or teachers noticed what was going on, because I want to believe they didn't notice and not think they knew about the situation but chose to turn their back and act as if that doesn't happen in their school. Like another parent mentioned in her review, the school is made up of clicks and if you don't fit in it, you mine as well just pack your stuff and go to another school. Didn't want to think that racism was so present but, needless to say, that was our case. The color of your skin should never define the value of your character nor your intelligence. Religion shouldn't be attending church once a week but loving your neighbor as yourself!!!
I am also a past graduate of this school, and wasn't going to review until I saw complaints similar to the ones I had. Very early education is good here, however, as has been previously referenced, this school goes downhill after the fourth grade. In my experience here, this school is populated by a very small community, and anyone that doesn't fit their mold is ostracised, by students and faculty alike. I'd be particularly cautious of enrolling your children here if you are not catholic, or even don't go to church--save your children some heartache and place them in another, more open-minded institution. Difference of any variety, including academic talent, is not appreciated here.
I am a parent of three children in Corpus Christi that are at three different learning levels. The teachers have been excellent with teaching all of my kids. One reason is because the school offers different levels of math and reading. I also love the fact that the children are taught to respect and care about each other and everyone they met.
Corpus Christi has been a very good experience for our son, and we look forward to having our oither son attend kindergarten there next year...It would be great if there was a playground, yet I don't think that's a big issue...I've been there many time when the students are out in the parking lot after lunch, and they are having a blast, and getting along just fine...Kathy Connor has brought a refreshing new styls of leadership to CCS, and great thnigs are right around the corner...
I am a previous parent of two at CCS. My children thrived in the early grades, and we loved the school. As we got into the higher grades, the teachers were unwilling to help with bullying problems, and strong cilques began to form. Too bad for those that do not quite fit in. We had multiple meetings regarding these problems to no avail, and unfortunately we ended up withdrawing our children from the school that we had loved so much. The school really needs to look at adopting some strong anti-bullying programs, and the teachers need to take a look at how they contribute to the problems. The early grades are wonderful in this school, but I would not recommend this school unless they take a look at the problems and make some serious changes. We are heartbroken over what happened to our family at this school.
I am the father of 2 students who have attended since kindergarten one graduated one in 7th grade. Academics are strong as are the expectations. The school lacks a playground and the kids spend their recess in the parking lot. There is alot of parent involvement but for the most part the school is very much clique-ish. My older son very outgoing and intelligent dealt with bullying and at times unfair treatment from certain teachers from 4th thru 7th grade. Had multiple meetings that did little to curb the problems. I feel that both my children have rec'd a good education but I think they have done so at a price. Better supervision and follow thru and communication would make this a better school.
Corpus Christi is a school of Academic Excellence. It is amazing! Its small class size and caring teachers have helped my child to blossom. Corpus also instills good values and social expectations. Field trips and special events are frequent. I can't recommend it enough.
Corpus Christi has the ability to be a great school, however it lacks leadership. The strongest parts of the school are the 5th and 6th grades and the Home and School Association.
Corpus Christi is a great school! I ve known this for a very long time. From the moment that I stepped foot in the building for a Kindergarten open house and was asked to pray for my child and for guidance in helping me decide what school would be best for her and for our family, I knew that I was in the right place. Seven years later, I have not been disappointed. Academically, it s great. Students consistently score well above average on annual standardized tests; the teachers are amazing and the curriculum challenging. Equally important to me, however, is the spiritual development of my children. I am thrilled that they can attend a school that reinforces the beliefs/values that we teach at home, where the Pledge of Allegiance is celebrated and that is rich in Catholic tradition. I can t imagine my children anywhere else.
Our son is in second grade at Corpus Christi and we are thrilled with the school. He has had excellent, fun and caring teachers. He comes home excited about his day and can't wait to share funny stories or things he has learned. He has a love for reading, math, science and learning in general that I can directly attribute to the environment at Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi is a community of great kids, parents, teachers and administrators (Principal included) and we are so proud to be a part of it.
We currently have three children in the school, and have been very pleased over all. They are receiving a great education, and have the opportunity to participate in a large variety of extracurricular activities to enrich their academic experience. Coming from the public school system, we are impressed with the privilege of having a disciplined learning environment. The teachers are able to concentrate on teaching, and also to give attention where it is needed. Students are recognized for their achievements and encouraged to always give their best effort. Their faith is strengthened through service projects, attending church, and daily prayer. The student body is truly a family. The parent group is dedicated to volunteering and enhances the whole Corpus Christi experience. All in all, it adds up to an exemplary school, in many more ways than one.
Corpus Christi School has a wonderful staff dedicated to educating the child in the Catholic tradition and preparing the child for the future. Corpus Christi School has twice been awarded the National Exemplary School Blue Ribbon Award and choosing Corpus Christi is truly an 'award winning decision'
I cannot tell you what a great decision I made. I think there will always be negative as well as positive things about a school but I know for a fact that the good outway the bad by a mile! This school holds true to their catholic traditions as well as being a blue ribbon school of excellence. The parent involement in this school is unbelieveable. I knew I wanted my children to grow up with the same traditions I grew up with. I know here they will get just that.
I have two children that attend Corpus Christi School - they are currently in Grade 2 and Grade 6 so I can say we've had a lot of experience. We highly recommend this school to anyone that believes morality, care towards others and the environment should be taught alongside academics. Teachers at this school are very well educated and make much less than teachers at public or other private schools and teach for the love of teaching. Also, we love the uniform and discipline policy that enables teachers to focus on teaching while the student population is able to focus on learning and caring. My children always come home with stories about the fun things teachers have done weekly if not daily. I've never seen my second grader so eager to read and my sixth grader so eager in Math and Science ! What more could a parent ask for!
I am a graduate of the 2005 class of CCS!! My favorite part of this school was science! Mrs.Alexander really taught me a lot that would get me ready for the challenges that i would face in high school! The teachers are semi-friendly but really what CCS needs is a new principal! -Student of 2005
The well-being and safety of all students is the first priority at Corpus Christi School. A well defined dismissal procedure is in place that clearly outlines the responsibilities of each teacher and the system that adults are to use when picking up students. This procedure is communicated to everyone involved with dismissal. When this procedure is followed, the safety of all students is ensured.
My kids hated this school last year. They need a new principal. Some that lets them have fun. Because learning can be fun but to her it all work and no play.
I am so disappointed in CCS today my daughter had a 1/2 day which I was unaware of. we received a list in the begining of the year stating the days off the children had and today was not one of them...my daycare provider picks the children up everyday but since I was unaware of the early dismissal so was she. Well my daughter and nephew were left standing alone in the cold at WAWA today with no one there to pick them up and no adult supervision...a woman picked the children up whom i have no idea who it was and drove them to my daycare. where was the school when a stranger drove off with my children?Thank god this woman was good hearted an did what she did but what if was someone who wasn't? Where would my child be now?
As a graduate of Corpus Christi just last year. I didnt not like it at all. The teachers did not treat you fair and some of them did even treat you like a person.
Mrs.Dapkus is the best teacher ever! She teaches, but adds fun and just is really great! I am a student in her class. Plus, she helps me to understand everything, and she is just great. Tips for being in her class: Do what you are supposed to do, do your homework and don't talk when she is. And when you are allowed to talk whisper. Mrs. Dapkus is really awesome.
