I am also a past graduate of this school, and wasn't going to review until I saw complaints similar to the ones I had. Very early education is good here, however, as has been previously referenced, this school goes downhill after the fourth grade. In my experience here, this school is populated by a very small community, and anyone that doesn't fit their mold is ostracised, by students and faculty alike. I'd be particularly cautious of enrolling your children here if you are not catholic, or even don't go to church--save your children some heartache and place them in another, more open-minded institution. Difference of any variety, including academic talent, is not appreciated here.
I am a parent of three children in Corpus Christi that are at three different learning levels. The teachers have been excellent with teaching all of my kids. One reason is because the school offers different levels of math and reading. I also love the fact that the children are taught to respect and care about each other and everyone they met.
Corpus Christi has been a very good experience for our son, and we look forward to having our oither son attend kindergarten there next year...It would be great if there was a playground, yet I don't think that's a big issue...I've been there many time when the students are out in the parking lot after lunch, and they are having a blast, and getting along just fine...Kathy Connor has brought a refreshing new styls of leadership to CCS, and great thnigs are right around the corner...
I am a previous parent of two at CCS. My children thrived in the early grades, and we loved the school. As we got into the higher grades, the teachers were unwilling to help with bullying problems, and strong cilques began to form. Too bad for those that do not quite fit in. We had multiple meetings regarding these problems to no avail, and unfortunately we ended up withdrawing our children from the school that we had loved so much. The school really needs to look at adopting some strong anti-bullying programs, and the teachers need to take a look at how they contribute to the problems. The early grades are wonderful in this school, but I would not recommend this school unless they take a look at the problems and make some serious changes. We are heartbroken over what happened to our family at this school.
I am the father of 2 students who have attended since kindergarten one graduated one in 7th grade. Academics are strong as are the expectations. The school lacks a playground and the kids spend their recess in the parking lot. There is alot of parent involvement but for the most part the school is very much clique-ish. My older son very outgoing and intelligent dealt with bullying and at times unfair treatment from certain teachers from 4th thru 7th grade. Had multiple meetings that did little to curb the problems. I feel that both my children have rec'd a good education but I think they have done so at a price. Better supervision and follow thru and communication would make this a better school.
Corpus Christi is a school of Academic Excellence. It is amazing! Its small class size and caring teachers have helped my child to blossom. Corpus also instills good values and social expectations. Field trips and special events are frequent. I can't recommend it enough.
Corpus Christi has the ability to be a great school, however it lacks leadership. The strongest parts of the school are the 5th and 6th grades and the Home and School Association.
Corpus Christi is a great school! I ve known this for a very long time. From the moment that I stepped foot in the building for a Kindergarten open house and was asked to pray for my child and for guidance in helping me decide what school would be best for her and for our family, I knew that I was in the right place. Seven years later, I have not been disappointed. Academically, it s great. Students consistently score well above average on annual standardized tests; the teachers are amazing and the curriculum challenging. Equally important to me, however, is the spiritual development of my children. I am thrilled that they can attend a school that reinforces the beliefs/values that we teach at home, where the Pledge of Allegiance is celebrated and that is rich in Catholic tradition. I can t imagine my children anywhere else.
Our son is in second grade at Corpus Christi and we are thrilled with the school. He has had excellent, fun and caring teachers. He comes home excited about his day and can't wait to share funny stories or things he has learned. He has a love for reading, math, science and learning in general that I can directly attribute to the environment at Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi is a community of great kids, parents, teachers and administrators (Principal included) and we are so proud to be a part of it.
We currently have three children in the school, and have been very pleased over all. They are receiving a great education, and have the opportunity to participate in a large variety of extracurricular activities to enrich their academic experience. Coming from the public school system, we are impressed with the privilege of having a disciplined learning environment. The teachers are able to concentrate on teaching, and also to give attention where it is needed. Students are recognized for their achievements and encouraged to always give their best effort. Their faith is strengthened through service projects, attending church, and daily prayer. The student body is truly a family. The parent group is dedicated to volunteering and enhances the whole Corpus Christi experience. All in all, it adds up to an exemplary school, in many more ways than one.
