I recently graduated from St. Matthew's, and honestly, I can say it was one of the best times of my life. Sure, some of the students were rowdy and some of the teachers didn't try enough, but overall, when we tried, we were a family and we came together. Every student received equal opportunities to reach their full potential, and every year, 8th graders get special little rewards, the biggest one probably being a video made in their honor at the end of the year. Unfortunately, St. Matts is no longer open, but masses are still being held in the church for families that are still members of the parish. Gone but not forgotten!
My kids attenened St. Matthew's and loved It. The teachers were great and the academics are wonderfull. Mr Fisher is a outstanding principal who really gets involved with the kids. He prays with the kids and lets them know why and they are praying for.
If you are looking for babysitters instead of educators then by all means send your child to St. Matthew's. I couldn't believe that they actually wanted me to pay for teachers that didn't spend much of their time teaching. When my child attended they often had parents come in and take over teaching the class for the teacher. I pulled my child out in fourth grade and placed him in public school which was much more stimulating and advanced. He was totally bored at St. Matthew's and although it took him a year to adjust to public school he's glad that we switched schools. I only wish that I did it sooner.
my children are new student St Matthews, this year and they are making a wonderful transition in the school. the teachers are welcoming and the academics is excellent.
The academics are excellent and most teachers are good. The only bad part is the sports programs which are in chaos. Do not let your child play sports there or it will only lead to frustration.
I am a student at St. Matthew. For the 2007-2008 school year, St. Matthew will have a very different academic setup, including Math and Literature levels in middle school (grades 6-8). There are many sports at St. Matthew. There is also a play about every other year. There is a band program. Many students participate in extracurricular activities, such as Science Olympiad, Math League, and Charter Challenge. The parent organization is called the Home and School Association (HSA). Parents are nominated for positions such a secretary, vice president, and president. The HSA raises money for school events, such as field trips. Our principal, Mr. Fisher, has and will be changing St. Matthew for the better. Mr. Fisher has made our school more religious, and handles issues within our community well.
