Most of the work the kids need to do, working through problems on their own, can get done at school if they really focus and get it done - the possibility of NOT having homework if they get it done at school helps them learn to work hard and concentrate. Though some homework is given to make sure the students get the concept of homework for when they leave WMS.
My 4 kids, who are different from each other in many ways, have all received an excellent education and have had a happy childhood thanks to the low pressure environment. My kids have learned at high levels joyfully and the teachers love and appreciate every child in their care.
We couldn't be happier. The school is everything we expected, holding everyone accountable for creating a community and culture of peace and respect. The campus is beautiful, and new fenced peace park in the front of the building creates an opportunity for all the kids to play together afterchool safely. They are learning so much in their years of preschool and I am always impressed by their work. They love feeling responsible for making their own work choices.
Our daughter attended Camp Montessori this summer for the first and I can't tell you how happy we all were with the experience. The camp was very engaging and had incredibly creative themes with activities that sparked our daughter's interest. She loved swimming at the pool, exploring the woods, doing art project, conducting experiments, and playing with her new friends. She also did two specialty camps and has already asked if she can do them again next year. The part about Camp Montessori that makes all of the difference is the people. From the director to the counselors, everyone is enthusiastic, caring, and involved with the children. They show grace and fairness and their wonderfully gentle example is modeled by the children. This has been the best summer of our lives and we can't wait to sign up for camp next year!
