If the child is ready, why not? Let them take the kindergarten test to see how they do. It's not like kindergarten has a good reading program. Can't stand Open Court Reading.

Depends on the child. Right now I am trying to get my child into kindergarten because the local district cutoff date is July 31st. My daughter's birthday is August 31st. She is reading, can add/subtract etc. She would be bored to wait another year.

I think it depends on your child. My daughter was completely read for kindergarten this september, but didn't meet the "deadline", however I am glad to give her another year to mature.

No, I feel that the earlier they go in the better, because it's just getting harder, first graders now have third grade homework. We have to work very hard to get our kids up there, their future depends on it, they'll still be kids just much brighter

Is it beneficial to delay the age at which children begin kindergarten? New research finds that kids who enter at age 6 instead of age 5 — especially kids from disadvantaged families — do significantly better on standardized tests and learn more from

yes, that is FAR too young. Our children are already way too old for their chronological age. Let's let kids be kids...at LEAST until they are 5!!!!

I like to reply to the parent who child turns five in February. My daughter turns five in February as well, and I like to know will schools allow your child to enroll, after all its not much different than transferring in the second half of the year
