I don't think 4 is too young in many cases. My son is 4 and is in K now. He is skill wise along with the class and often exceeding expectations. It depends on social awareness too. My son has an extroverted and "bossy" personality. Not a follower!

I wouldn't consider sending a child to school till 5. Depending on the birthday. If you have a September baby, may consider waiting unless they are ready for kindergarten preschool edu.. They are still babies. Not to mention the social skills needed.

My three year old can do kindergarten skills... so no doubt by the time she is 4, she will be "kindergarten ready". However I will not be sending her to kindergarten until she is 5 because I want her to have as much time to be a preschooler as possib

No...I am currently trying to find a school that will take my daughter, who will be 4 and 8 months at the September 1st cutoff...nevermind that she can do all of the readiness skills on the school handouts! If your child is ready, they should go!

It can be. Even if your 4-year-old is brilliant and you've been grilling them with flash cards since the maternity ward, the most important factor to consider is their emotional maturity. If they aren't mature for their age, they could fall behind.

My daughter is 4 and she reads in Spanish, write her name and any word just be doing every letter sound (thought at home). Since every child is different, i think for some children its ok to be in Kindergarden at 4 years old.

At the age of 4 my daughter was able to write and spell her first name and three letter words.

No! Research have shown that kids brain are like a sponge between o-8 years. They absorb everything they see and hear. My daughter started at 2 and a half years in the caribbean (Trinidad), and she is an excellent listener/reader.
