I agree, it depends on the child. My son will be five Aug.29 and he is undoubtedly ready for kindergarten. I don't want to keep him out a whole year. What am I to do?

According to the California Department of Education, five years old is the minimum age to enter kindergarten. Indeed I have heard of stories in which some parents were allowed to enroll their kids in kinder at private schools, at the age of 4.
i think it completely depends on the maturity level of the child. my 4 year went to head start when she was 3 and knew all the things that are suggested that they know when they start kindergarten, and she is very mature for her age.
I think it depends on the child. My daughter will be 4 August and she's already been in Headstart and they said she has to go back to Headstart 2011-2012 school year beacause she's too young for kindergarten. She's not the average 3 year old.
I don't think so!Whether the kids go to kindergarten or not, it's depend on atmosphere of school, living town and the courage of trying to first step !!
No. My kids went to a 3-year-old program at their elementary school. They were reading 3rd-grade books in kindergarten and have excellent social skills.
I started school when I was 4 (B-Day: Oct. 24, 1976). I have no nervouse ticks several degrees & a great self esteem.The fact is that if the child is ready then they should go to Kinder.Unfortunately some schools cannot support a child that is ahead
