I have found that back to school blues seem to get numbed by buying new clothes for school. It changes the dynamic from back to drudgery to benign competition with friends and schoolmates. Who is wearng what... it works.

well just see how the first 2 weeks of school goes, and if it goes great well you'll have nothing to worry about

My daughter is excited to start school soon. I'm the one with blues. I try to make sure I get enough sleep, and prepare by getting up earlier for a few weeks.

& I try to work less that first week to give ample time to her needs when she gets home

My daughter is so happy to be in high school now. I don't think she's got the blues at all. Shock to me...

This must happen more with older kids because my daughter was thrilled when school started again.

Honestly, I think back to school shopping helps get the kids excited. I also try to get them back in touch with friends a week or two before school starts.
