I would walk through the school and get a read on the general atmosphere. Meet the principle and any prospective teachers for your child. Present them with situations dealing with issues like disipline and based on their reactons make your decision

I want to see those teachers/paras etc have higher expections for the special needs students they have been entrusted with and hold the students up to those expectations.

Not many turn overs for the teachers, meaning theyre happy at and proud of what theyre doing. Happy teachers create happy students.

Randomly visit the school check out playground activity, ask to visit the classrooms at different times, listen to more than one parent and allow your child to visit before enrolling them kids are pretty good judges of where they will feel welcome.

Do your research and ask other parents! Find out what they have to say about the schools are you interested in. Keep an eye open and an ear listening at all times. Tour the schools. Find their academic rankings as well as their level of safety.
