Hi, we just moved to Baton Rogue from New York

and we are looking for an elementary school that my 6 year old is able to attend other than University Terrace Eementary school that has very low rating on this site. My son is very intelligent and as I have read the reviews for the school I see that they may be teaching things that my son learned in headstart and kindergarten. I do not want my son to regress in his education I want him to attend a school that the teachers care about their students succeeding and advancing. That is what I am not hearing about University Terrace. I also registered my son for Dalton Charter which I still have not heard anything back from them and school starts tomorrow, which to me says alot about the school. school starts tomorrow and I have already bought uniforms for Dalton and have not been able to contact anyone there. I also read that my son can attend any school pretty much in east Baton Rogue parish, but when I am asking some schools they are saying this is not true. I am sure that I got the information about attending other schools from this website. I am very frustrated and almost upset that we moved here, where out of 100+ schools are located and I can't get my son into one of them except for the one that has the worst reputation. Please someone help if you can guide me into the right direction I am trying to get to.

You have dropped your son off for school this morning, so I hope it didn't seem as bad as what you read.
Here's the link to the school district: http://www.ebrpss.k12.la.us/ Contact them about programs like open enrollment that might let your kids attend while living in an area zoned for a different school.

I thought my 6 year old entering 2nd grade would have to go there but apparently she will attend Buchanan. I was also upset to find out that she couldn't attend our first choice which would be BRCVPA.... I don't know anything about Dalton... how did today go?
