Maybe I'll go to the US at january/2013. Here, my son is at 2rd grade with 7 years old. I'm confusing to choose public or private schools becaus in Brazil public schools are not so good. Another thing is about the vacations. Here, the summer time begins at december and go to February. Is is easy to adapt ? I don`t want my child returning the grade year.

Hi kqueiroz, and welcome to the GreatSchools Parent Community.

It is a lot to take in. School years in the US typically run from late August or early September through sometime in June, which makes sense since we're in the northern hemisphere. People move back and forth all the time, so it's not too difficult to adapt.

If you do move to the US, your son will essentially lose six months, because he'll be returning for the second semester. You can look at it as a transition for him, as he gets acclimated to new surroundings.

As for public or private, there are great schools in both categories, so the best way to find out how the schools are where you are moving check here: http://www.greatschools.org/find-schools/ You can compare the school's rating with parent reviews to help you choose.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
