My daughter has ben attending this school since KG and I can not wait to pull her out. You will find some good teachers but most of them are either more worried about gossipping or the FCATS.Especially the principal, that is her main concern. Not parent association just the FCATS. To me, they are behind on the important factor. the students. I would not reccomend this school to anyone. If you are moving in the area please look somewhere else.

M A Jones is a wonderful school. It has received an 'A' rating for the past 6 years. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to volunteer or visit the classroom so that they can see first hand what is going on. I also had a child in first grade during the 08-09 school year and did not have any of the problems the previous parent mentioned.

We moved here from Virginia Beach, and a great elementary school. This school has no activities. The teachers are hit or miss. The kids watch a ton of videos and movies. Head lice was constantly passed throughout the first grade. My daughter was picked on and bullied. We live 14 country miles from this school, and even though we are 6 miles from Chaffee Trails are forced to go here. The best thing about this school was Mr. Hatcher, and he's retiring. We are looking to move to get away from this school.

This school is an A school for the past five years in a row. My grandson entered this school with a speech impairment, today he does the morning announcements. His sister has moved on the the High School and is part of Duke University Young Scholars Program. Our family is very thankful to have had an educational foundation provided by this great school. Although we are sorry to see Mr. Hatcher (Principal) leave, we wish him a very happy retirement.

My child went to school at MAJones in the fifth and sixth grades. She graduated from college with a 3.6. MAJones was a nurturing experience for her as well as educational. With her grades and test score she went to Stanton and was successful there as well. The staff was very caring and concerned for her needs and kept me closely informed of her progress. I rate it high above other schools she attended, including two in other states that were supposed to be outstanding.

Overall, a good elementary school. There are no extracurricular activities, but parents seem to be pretty involved with school activities

I think the staff at Mcalder are wonderful. My girls love to go to school and actually start to miss it after being home during the breaks, They play school at home with the other neighbor kids all the time. Mrs. Ledesma and Mrs Humpries are their teachers and they are continously bragging about them. The leadership of Kay Gallo is top notch. I love to stop in and pick them up from time to time. What I always see is a caring staff that seem to really love their jobs and the kids they instruct. Mrs. Simms and Mrs Sneva were their teachers in their first year after we relocated to the area and because of the impression they made on my girls, I opted to put in for a waiver to keep them at Mcalder. Jeannie Larberg has also been a positive influence in their lives.

Coming from a Tennessee school district, my children were unchallenged and seemingly 'left behind' by a non stimulating cirriculum. M.A.J. has given my children a new outlook on school, academics and the community. The dedication of the faculty members makes me not only say I'm proud my children attend this school, but my children fell the same as well.. and that's no small feat! Keep up the great work!

A-grade school, wonderful guidance and support for your child. My daughter was having problems with her reading skills, she was tutored and helped to above average. I highly recommend this school.

This school's success is only possible with the guidance and leadership from an outstanding principal that always puts the students first! Mr. Hatcher's constant with helping parents help their children - - thanks for making a difference to so many, every day!

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
