Terrible school. Don't be fooled by the rating. They will not help your child if he/she is struggling.
Great school. Nice staff and teachers. This is the best elementary school I know. We are moved from Vero Beach, Florida to Boca Raton Florida looking for good elementary schools, finally we found Del Prado Elementary School to educate our son
I love this school minus how much they cram down the homework when FCAT came around last year. I don't know what other elementary schools do.
Good luck fitting in. Do some research on the neighborhood around the school and you'll understand. The level of exclusion by the parents and the students is disgusting. The school was a little above average. It is way behind Addison Mizner.
First Of All The Front Desk And Nurse Are Ridiculous, They Cannot Use Common SenSe In So Many Levels. My DaughterThe Gifted But In The End What Matters Is The Teachers. Last Year She Was Not InThe Gifted But The Teacher Was Much Better.... For Those Wondering If They Should Move To This District Because Of The School Rating Don't Waste Your Time Or Money Since 20% Of The Students Use Their Friends Or Family Addresses For The First Year, After That No more Address Check. Very Disappointed With Their System.b
We had 3 children in this school and we are happy we took our children out of Del Prado. Our oldest was in Del Prado for 5 yrs and had some teachers that were not qualified to teach. They do play favorites sometimes. I think maybe the gifted program is much better. That is what all the hype is about. The regular program is "C. " They did little to help my advanced child that I didn't put into the gifted program. This child is very happy at a much better school. So much inconsistency. The kindest person was Dale Martin in the office.
I had my son tested for the gifted program because he was so advanced for his age. He is in the gifted kindergarten and he is still getting bored. The gifted program is not good enough for kids that are coming from an excellent pre school. I am not happy at all with the program. When my son started the year he had some friends that couldn't read and he was reading like a second grade level and he was only in kindergarten. They should separate the kids in the correct classroom and improve the gifted program. Also they should train the teachers better to do more than one level in the same class, they all should be gifted teachers. And please, let the new teachers start working and send home the teachers that work enough time and are not capable anymore to be in a class with young kids. Thanks.
Del Prado has been a blessing to our daughter. After countless hours of searching for the right school for our first grader and reading the reviews from all different schools, we finally decided this school was the best choice for her. We just moved to the area from Myrtle Beach, SC and though the school she was in was amazing in every way, this one isn't one bit behind. She has homework everyday and I am impressed with the amount she has learned in such short period of time. They really do keep the kids busy and interested. The grounds are well kept, the school is very clean, and the office staff couldn't be friendlier. Her teacher is so kind and doing the best she can to make my daughter fit in. I couldn't be happier. The "room mom" was also very friendly and called to fill me in on classroom functions such as holiday parties and etc. Lastly I would just like to say that every school has their pros and cons; however, out of all the schools in the Boca area this school really is the best choice and I thank God everyday for the opportunity He has given us to live within the school boundaries.
We moved to the area because of this school and we are very glad we did. The teachers are very caring and nurturing, but are very academically driven....which is why we moved here. I have read other comments, and quite frankly, do not place much stock in poorly written, grammatically incorrect comments. Education starts at the home, is accelerated in areas at the school level, and then reinforced again within the home. We couldn't be happier at this school and would recommend it to anyone.
I have to say that I have had very little experience with this school, but from what I know, I am not fond of some of the teachers. I tutor a student at this school, and I asked the teacher if she could possibly email me what the student is learning. She responded by saying "I'm too busy". I think this is a worng for a teacher to do this. Teachers are supposed to help guide students on the right track. Anyways, since the teachers happen to be like that, I suggest enrolling your kids in other schools, where teachers WILL help your child. This shows me that the teachers here are teaching for the pay check not the students!
This school is rated one of the top elementary schools in Boca. That may be academically but as far as the teachers go from 3rd grade and up I don't agree. There is a great lack of professionalism, compassion and teachers don't like to take the blame for any of their actions. They do play favorites and if your child is not one of them rest assure they will feel inferior. Very upset about this and trying to fix the issue is like talking to a brick wall. Although my child is doing fabulous academically I do not credit the teachers for this. They need to go to social skill(s) classes.
HI MY DAUGHTER is going to start Kindergarten in September and I was looking to get some advice for reviews on Morikami and Del Prado. which one is better please?? Please give me your opinion as a parrent. thanks.
This is my first year at this school. I am coming from another great Boca Elementary School. Because it is an older school the interior lighting is poor. I would also like to see more staff assist on a regular basis during car line. It is not properly managed and there is too much room for a child to possibly be injured. The classes are good and I believe that the education is up to par. Let's do away with these FCATs and stop stressing the kids and parents. Teach to learn , not teach to test. Other states have diagnostics but they are not nearly as intense as the Florida FCAT. There should not be a pass fail for a diagnostic.
As with every public school these kids are zombie's being taught to a test. They do well on these tests because that is how the teachers make their money. They only teach to the FCAT. Not a good education at all. Thank you federal government!
I have two children that attend this school and I find most of the teachers and staff truly wonderful. With any profession, there are good and bad. And while some teachers are better than others, no teacher at this school is truly bad. They each have their own gift and specialty. And some of the teachers go above and beyone - tutoring kids for free after school and running award winning SECME clubs! In addition, I find the PTA fun and wonderful. No one is forced to participate in any fundraiser - and this year the PTA offered rewards with a donation, without even selling one item. Last year the PTA hosted a Wild Walk with Animal Encounters for the entire student body - for free! Plus each student got a free t-shirt!! The PTA provides the school with much needed funds for audio enhancements, educational tools, and much more! The women and men that help out as campus volunteers really have their hearts in the right place. I like the added security to the school as well. I do not think people/parents should be allowed on campus whenever and wherever they want. In addition to the added safety, a teacher's instruction is not interrupted.
If I could give this school a ZERO I would. The teachers are lazy they talk badly about the principal and the students. If you'res not a room mom, your child is not the teachers favorite and you get zero attention from the teacher. Teachers do not return phone calls or they just yes you when they do. Parents are never allowed on campus. It's lack of unity and professionalism that will turn this school into a B rated school soon.
My family and friends think this is a horrible school. First their was the principal who stole and was relieved of her duties there. Thr afterschool clubs were cancelled. They do not check ID's at the office and people randomly sign in and go on campus. The car lines have always been slow. PTA requests money on a monthly basis, using the kids as pawns, so if parents do not contribute, kids do not earn prizes. There is no gymnasium. No musical instruments taught. Teachers have referred to students there as "brats". Teachers have complained to parents about having a new principal and his lack of communication. Teachers show favorites and many do not return phone calls or emails within a reasonable time period. The school is supposed to use Edline, yet teachers cant be bothered. Could go on and on. Del Prado should by no means be rated a 10. They start coaching the kids for FCATS constantly, and receive more funding for higher FCAT scores. Their focus is all about FCAT scores, and not enough about the important items children should be learning. Del Prado and their staff are a huge disppointment, and I would highly advise if you have a choice to go elsewhere, do it!
Great school, with great teachers, and they are always trying to involve the parents in different activities...We recomend it and love it!
Del Prado is an exceptional school where the kids are nurtured. Mr. Clark is a wonderful Principal and I am very pleased to send my daughters there. The teachers are the heart of this school.
At my old school, I used to be so bored! After I transferred to Del Prado,I found this school academically challenging, and I love it here! This is the best school i've ever been to!
