Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

What a wealth of misinformation the previous poster (5/31/14) has written. If you are unhappy with the school that is your prerogative and perception but please do not speak for all the teachers and parents. We have proudly worked at SPES for many years and are neither seeking a transfer nor considering early retirement (even if it were an option). The present administration is nothing short of amazing. She has the best interests of the teachers and students when she made the decision to protect the students from the prying eyes of parents during core instruction. As teachers we do not need parents observing us during instruction and going back into the community to critique us. Even more importantly, children s privacy needs to be protected as well. The grouping of students is confidential. We do not know what statistics this poster has regarding private school and Morakami (determined by lottery) but we suggest that it is all in the opinion of the writer and not based on data. Yes, this school is not what it used to be because if it were we would be stagnant. Education is changing and Sunrise Park is rising to the higher expectations of a changing world.

The principal is singlehanded lye destroying what used to be a great school! Parents used to be welcome with open arms, but now the words, " we want you in the classroom" are said, but parents are banned for the greater part of the day. The principal has no respect for parents. She snaps at them, yells, and makes nasty comments. She also yells at teachers in front of everyone. It seems no one really understands the reading program. The school enrollment is down because kids go to Morikami or private school rather than go here. For the first time in years, teachers are requesting transfers or taking early retirement. My advice, send your child to another school if you can!

This school is fantastic! Student behavior there is not much of a problem and the school has numerous programs. If your child has trouble learning, they can learn in a slow pace class. I have mixed feelings on the teachers there. All of the teachers are sweet and have a love for kids but some are too inexperienced and don't teach right. At the school there is a club for every kid and a friend for every kid. The school is a safe place with good lunch and well-kept grounds,

Sunrise Park has a dedicated and professional team lead by Principal Alicia Steiger. They are known locally for a staff and faculty that goes above and beyond the normal to provide a top level education to our students. In addition the very active parents contribute over 12,000 volunteer hours each year assisting with book fairs, picture days, car line, school fair and more. SPES partners with community agencies to offer such services as mentors for students, grief camp, a reading therapy dog, grandparents in the classroom, and more. Clubs and activities range from self defense, running club and Samaritans to Color Me Happy, Student Council and Art Club.

Sunrise Park is the BEST school in Palm Beach County! We have a phenomenal staff who is truly dedicated to the individual success of each and every Sunrise Park student. We offer an enrichment program for our primary aged students. Our ESE department is top notch and offers students a variety of services and options to meet their diverse and specific needs. We are an "A" rated school and the proud recipient of the prestigious 5 STAR AWARD by the Florida Department of Education for eight consecutive years. This award is due to the efforts of our AMAZING PTA organization. If you want to be involved in your child's school, Sunrise Park Elementary is the school for you! It's truly a team effort at Sunrise Park. SPES ROCKS!

I am a very proud and dedicated teacher at sunrise park elementary., and might I also add, a parent of two girls who attended our fabulous school while their sensitive teachers every year met their needs beyond my expectations! You should know that the community within our little school flows and functions like a close and caring family , as well as a top notch A + school made up of dedicated educators and administration. Quite honestly, our principal Mrs. Alecia Steiger never ceases to amaze me with her heartfelt care and concern for her staff and ultimately the kiddos! With my 18 years of teaching experience I have been fortunate to open our sunrise park elementary school and sandpiper shores elementary in our west Boca community. I've resided here and raised my girls here and would like to let others know how very happy you will be when you enroll your children at Sunrise Park Elementary! I welcome you and your family with open arms. Ms. Ivy Soffin second grade teacher.

I recently moved here from NY and although my chid was in G&T there, we opted for our local school, Sunrise Park. Best decision! My child's teacher is an amazing, kind educator that challenges her in all subject areas. I was nervous about the Florida public school system because I didn't know much about it, I am more than pleased with my decision. This school also has a wonderful PTA that has so many fun activities all the time for the students. Bottom line...my daughter has adjusted so well and absolutely loves going to school everyday. Looking forward to the same experience with my younger child next year.

I have a child in 2nd grade and he has been going to the school since kindergarten. We move to West Boca Raton in 2009, from East Boca. We research all of the schools in the area and found Sunrise Park to be an A rated school. My personal experience with the school for the past 2 years, has been wonderful. The principal and the vice principal are amazing and have all the children best interest in hand. The teachers are wonderful and the parents involvement is awesome. SPES also has a wonderful PTA board and volunteers who do GREAT things for the kids and staff!

This school is amazing. I have a 3rd grader and 2nd grader, both of them absolutely love it. The teachers here are top notch! The Principal and Assistant Principal truly care about every single child at Sunrise Park. Parent support is great! The staff in the front office is knowledgeable and so friendly. You feel like a big family coming into Sunrise Park. I personally wouldn't go anywhere else! I couldn't be happier with how my children are thriving!

Recently moved to Florida. Started my son in 1st grade here. Trying to give it some time hoping that the school becomes what I expected it would be according to what I was reading, but my patience is growing thin. There is very little communication, I have no idea if my sons homework is being checked or not, my notes to the teacher aren't being replied to, I'm also not sure if the spelling words he is being given to be tested at the end of the week are being reviewed anywhere else but at home. I'd also like to add that my sons personality has been very different sunce entering this school, and not for the better. Maybe it's just the teacher... Maybe not. Who knows at this point. At this particular point in time, I know I regret moving my child to this school. Here's hopes for something to change my mind and put me at ease.

For the parent moving from North Fl, we moved to Boca 3 years ago from VA. My daughter is completing 3rd grade, her first at Sunrise, and her 3rd school in 4 years (moving had more to do with this than the school itself, but she did go to Sandpiper for the past 2 years). I am proud to say Sunrise is a big improvement. Her teacher is awesome, well-organized. I have seen her leadership as a class volunteer multiple times. I have also met with my daughter's special teacher - very nice and "with it." This school has its act together!

I'm not really sure what the last review was talking about. The teachers at Sunrise Park went above and beyond the call of duty this past year even with the hectic departmentalization switch over. There were so many teachers taking time from their personal lives to help the children learn and understand the material from the curriculum (not just the middle kids). We have such a great group of teachers, general staff members and administrators. I'm proud to say my daughter will be graduating Sunrise Park next year with a great elementary education under her belt.

I feel that Sunrise Park used to be an exceptional school....that has become a mediocre one. The administration is running it like a business...very cold and not taking into account that we are supposed to be helping each and every child (regardless of ability) strive to be the best they can and learn and excel on their level. They are teaching to the middle kids, leaving out the advanced kids as well as the kids who need more help. It's a shame that the teachers are so consumed with what administration has them doing that it's not as enjoyable for them as it should be.

Boy do I ever miss this school. My kids attended school there for one year and then we moved 2 miles away and were forced to change schools. The teachers at Sunrise truly do care about their students and want them to succeed and they'll work with parents in order to accomplish this. Our kids currently go to Waters Edge and the teacher here should be ashamed at the way they are with the students who need help. Anyways, your the best Sunrise.

I have to say the my son was lucky enough to have one of the most dedicated teachers I have ever known. My son seemed to be struggling in the beginning of first grade and Miss Brodie recognized this and when above and beyond. She would give up her planning periods, come in early to school or even stay late after school to assist not only my son but other students in her class that needed to have extra support. Miss Brodie has always been such a positive role model that my son loves going to school now when at one point had such a low self-esteem, would hate going to school. Miss Brodie has done wonders with my son and so many other students. She is an amazing teacher, Sunrise Park is so lucky to have her, you are a WONDERFUL teacher Miss Brodie!

My son attends Sunrise Park and he is in the 3rd grade. This is an outstanding school with a great principal and staff. His teacher is very supportive and professional. He is having a very productive year and the teachers do a great job preparing the students for the FCAT. The atmosphere of the school is warm and friendly. The principal, Mrs. Elfe is always pleasant and professional. She always returns phone calls and meets with you in person whenever you have a concern. I love Sunrise Park and I believe it is one of the best schools in Florida.

My husband and I must say that this truly is an amazing school. We are new the school this year and weren't sure how the teachers would be. However we couldn't be happier. Especially with the third grade team, where we currently have 2 children. So a big huge thank you to Mrs. Church and Ms. Eicher for all their hard work, dedication, organization and professionalism. Our children have learned so much already, that we can't wait to see what else there is for the remainder of the year. Although it is the year of FCAT, they have not made our children feel stressed or pressured, but have allowed them to learn to their fullest abilities. We recommend this school completely.

After the Principal change (2006) there have been changes in school activities that there is no fun for the kids and parents, no communication with parents, and teachers are assigning homework without reviewing the subject at school. So, parents are doing home schooling! And wait for the changes to come, I hope the principal dedicate sometime to ask and not to impose.

Sunrise Park is a terrific school. I have 3 children who attended since the opening of the school. Two have graduated and one is still there. Each and every year, they have had great teachers who have challenged and motivated them. All of their teachers have been available when any problems or concerns arise. I especially want to mention Mrs. Freeman in 1st grade who had taught both of my sons and my daughter. She is an amazing teacher and any student who has her is very lucky!

I was there when this school opened I was the first PTA president at Sunrise, and I will be there until my youngest leaves in 2015. We are so luck to have the best school in town. The faculty and staff provide a superior education to EVERY child, no matter what there level. The PTA is top notch, those ladies are fully committed to making sure our kids have the best of everything. My middle son is ESE and had a hard time in K & 1 & 2, but by the time 3rd grade came he entered the ESE program and has become an amazing student. The ESE teachers focus on his needs and get it done. My hats off to the Sunrise Park ESE department for enriching every child, and helping them to reach their maximum potential.

We are new to Florida and my son started in Sunrise this year as a forth grader. I am very pleased with his teacher and her committment to her students and the curriculm. Comming from a very highly rated school system in Pennsylvania, I can truely say I am impressed with the adminstration and the educators at SPE to date. My son has a reading problem that has been given considertion and everyone has gone out of there way to help us. I am not at this point familiar with the extracurricular programs, art, etc. but I can say that there is a strong parent involvement. The PTO is strong and parents are welcome to help in the classrooms and wanted by the teachers at all grade levels.

My son is in kindergarden and is enjoying himself very much. I am amazed everyday at the things he is learning and how much loves being at Sunrise Park. Every parent should feel blessed to have teachers that care and a wonderful school like this. Quality of Academic Program is high Availability of music, art, P.E., etc., is low (once every 7 school days) Level of parent involvement is high my major complaint with this school is the policy of no talking. My children are not allowed to collaborate or work in groups in the classroom. They are not allowed to talk ALL DAY LONG unless they raise their hand to ask or answer a question (except during lunch break and snack time). I find this atmosphere very stifling, particularly for boys. I believe their is much benefit in working in groups, sharing ideas, and I believe it helps instill a love and enthusiasm for learning that cannot be achieved in a rigid 'no talking' environment.

Sunrise Park is an excellent school. Both of my children have been fortunate enough to be in the enrichment program but even without it the teachers are great. Both of my children were lucky to get a kindergarten teacher that was playful but challenging. They learned more in K than many students in other schools learn in 1st grade. My son had a great 1st grade teacher who began early on working on their writing skills and keeping them challenged. They never had time to be bored in the classroom and this kept their minds active w/o giving them a chance to be bored. At first I thought it was too much for a 1st grader but when I saw the results I couldn't complain. Parents are encouraged to get involved in the school and many do.
