My son has been at this school for two years now, (Kindergarten and 1st), I was a little nervous - as any parent would be, however it has been great. He has had two excellent caring, kind teachers that have really encouraged him to be the very best he can be. All the staff are very warm and welcoming, greeting the students each day as they arrive. My son has received an expanded curriculum, as well as a pull out program, which he is always very excited to tell me about. The school has been a very warm and welcoming place, that my son loves to go to each day. The staff encourage a love of learning. My son is learning Spanish which he enjoys, and takes great pride in practicing. The teachers have worked well with my son, and he is receiving a very well rounded education. The school focuses on the whole child, providing a good balance. The communication from the staff has been excellent.
Check the new Charter schools of Boynton Beach website: www.csbb.org All good things come around in time with the help of God. The school's elementary choir sang at an Episcopal church on December 9th and it was beautiful. The school has much to offer and in due time they will be back to where they were and make changes to deal with the growth that they were blessed with. As a long standing volunteer at the school I am confident of that. Go Bulldogs!
No! Good teachers would not still be working there. The school has teachers working there that are not certified in order to save themselves money. The school quotes themselves as a technology school, when there is only one computer in a classroom and old computers in the computer room. It is also known for foreign language classes, which some of the teachers do not know how to teach. They have no books for the students until at least december which the students need to share because they do not purchase enough. Its a horrible school and if you send your child there, they will end up with no education.
This school's directors and Principle are not in this for the students. My son was there for only a month when a really inappropriate discussion was had between the Principle and ta 7th grade class. After bringing to the attention of the directors, I received nothing but unwillingness to hear the problem or even concern. This school is not about the students, ita about making money. I'm sure this is why the EX-Teacher also left. This was a great Teacher
It's amazon ing how fired, disgruntled teachers post the most negative remarks. If you were a good teacher you would still be there and not on the unemployment. As a parent I want the best teachers in the classroom. Computer and books don't trench children great teachers do. Sad whoever wrote the review in April 5, 2012 could not figure that out.
It is interesting how all the negative marks disappear from here. I worked here at one time, and a school that has "no money" for computers, a library, or textbooks is unacceptable! The bar is definitely lowered here. I have never seen such a dysfunctional administration with zero structure. The morale here is so low that whichever teachers don't get fired, end up quitting. In general, the place is amateur.
The Charter Schools of Boynton Beach is a terrific school with great faculty and staff . While they are going through growth pains they still manage to provide a nuturing atmosphere for my grandchildren who love it there. One the best charter schools around.
My child started her 6th grade year at CSBB in 2008 and I wish I had listend to Mr. Owens 4 years ago when he asked me to place my child in his school. The school is awesome! My daughter's FCAT scores have improved tremendously as well as her study habits and overall grades in school. The fact that kindergarteners are required to have a foreign language class is beyond me! And I love the fact that my African American child with Bahamian roots LOVES Japanese class! I wish that they would expand to include high school like Village Academy did. The 2010-2011 school year will be her last :( I'm not sure why the ratings are so low, I'm assuming it's based on the fact that this school was tiny when it started by my oh my how things have changed.
Id advise anyone not to go here it has no good programs for the middle school and the students are horrid and distrupt the classes, alot of fights its not an enviorment i would call to ' learn' more like a correctional center beacause most of the students are from congress(also a bad school on the other hand the only thing i like about hte school is the principal Mr. Owens he is the best principal out there is actually cares about the students, and he`s funny to!
I walk the hall ways a few days out of the week, well I'm not impress. The class rooms are very noisy I can not hear my self think. There are 2 to 3 teachers that realy care about the education, How ever some one who had a realy good education in the past can realy pick up on certain things. But on the night of celebration night Mr. Owens gave a great speach, but that was it a great speach. It was not follow thrue in regards to education. I see that teachers have no control of the student what so ever. Students have no respect. Mr. Owens did say in his speech that once in his school it would be diffrent. I have yet to see it. I'm pulling my chrildren out of there. To bad I was not able to see before the first semester. Very very disapointed!!!!!!
this is one of the best schools in the world.they teachers that would go to hell and back for us kids.and unlike other schools they try and help us even if it takes time for us to get so don't listen the ones that say no.this school will prepare us for the future I've been at this school for 6 years.they have kindergartener's that can spell the words there giving us in seventh.so don't send your child here they will miss out on a whole lot.can your five year old spell mystery or chaos.
Charter School of Boynton Beach is an amazing school. The staff is simply wonderful. Mr. Owens, the principal knows each and every child by name, and interacts with them several times daily. The teachers are outstanding, and everyone strives to work together. They go the extra mile to get parents involved, and I think what is most important, is they truly look at each child as an individual, knowing each child's individual needs and desires, likes and dislikes. It takes very special people to achieve something like that, and that is why it is an A school. My son loves all the adults that work with him, and they always encourage him, even when he has rough days. This school is amazing, it's as simple as that.
Just not happy. School moved mid year, and the old buses they used to transport children kept breaking down overcrowded etc. Over hype of activities by administration because follow thru is just not there.
The school earned an 'A' grade and has a very nice location with a library, technology lab, and great classrroms. The faculty and adminstration are par excellence. School is involved with the YMCA so the students can take swimming safety lessons. The kids love CSBB.
The quality of academics, staff and administration is far superior to all the other schools I have researched in Palm Beach county. Mr and Mrs Owens do a fabulous job and have wonderful, dedicated staff. I can't express my gratitude for the quality and care my son received from Mrs.Ward, Mrs. Lopresti and Mr. Garcia. Thank you, thank you! Anne Hoyt (Watters)
The Charter School of Boynton Beach is a wonderful school for students. The level of attention and care is high. All members at CSBB take an active role in nurturing and caring for the students and families that join the CSBB family. The academics are of the utmost importance and are delivered in a variety of ways to meet the needs of each child. It is a place where students enjoy coming to and feel apart of the community.
The school facility is not conducive to learning, there are no walls so it is very loud in the building and was difficult for my child to concentrate when he/she could hear other teachers and students louder than his/her own teacher.
Other than the lack of facility for outdoor activities due to the school building being built, this school is the best thing that has ever happened to 2 of my children. All of the staff are involved in the childrens activities and genuinely care for every child in the school.I wish that we had more schools just like this one.
Very high quality school. It offers Spanish and French, along with advanced computer technology to all the students, including kindergarten age. Furthermore, it is one of the few elementary schools to offer subject area classes for all grades at the same time. For example, all students have math at the same time, regardless of their grade level. This allows children to advance beyond their grade level by moving into a higher level math class. The idea of constantly stimulating the children regardless of their abilities is something this school accomplishes very well and it provides the motivation necessary for children to excel.
This school is wonderful academically and staff. The best part is that Mr. Owens, the principal, really cares about these kids. Every morning, he takes time to talk the kids and encourage them with something positive. Even the parents walk away thinking. Teachers & staff prepare the children well in advance for FCAT, Mr. Owens has the school open on Saturdays for FCAT tutoring!! Because the clases are smaller, I've seen my son who has been in the school for the 2nd year, improve in his school work. My daughter, who is a kindergardner, already knows all of her classmates. It's a wonderful atmosphere! Great leadership Mr. Owens!!
