Gene Witt is a phenomenal school! My son has gone to Pre-K there for two years (one year for a speech Pre-K) and both teachers he had were wonderful! Now he is in Kindergarten and he LOVES it! My daughter is now in Pre-K there and she loves it too. Everyone that I have met there are so friendly and helpful. There is not one person that works there that I do not love. The parents are very much involved as well. We are so proud to be part of the Gene Witt family (:

Gene Witt is a wonderful elementary school! My oldest is finishing the 5th grade and my youngest is in kindergarten. The teachers are wonderful here and definitely prepare the students to move on to middle school. They have really helped my son get the extra help he needed and he is now a Honor Roll student. The school has great parent involvement and a super PTO. I wouldn't think of sending my kids anywhere else.

My two children attend Gene Witt Elementary. It is one of the best schools in the county. I would highly recommend it. The teachers are great. The principal and her Staff are wonderful. I can not say enough. The parent involvement is good could always be better, anywhere you go. Wouldn't it be nice if we all cared so much.

My daughter is a student at Gene Witt and we are very pleased! The teachers are wonderful and the families are very involved with the school which makes all the difference. With schools struggling with budgetary problems etc they really gain from families who care enough to volunteer and help raise money for the school. We had several choices and are very please we picked Gene Witt. Overall we have no complaints.

Gene Witt has enriched our daughter's life tremendously. She has developed a love for school and for learning. I cannot thank the dedicated staff at Gene Witt enough for all that they do. We are blessed to be a part of this amazing school family.

As a grandparent, I have seen grandchildren in a variety of academic environments, but Witt far outshines them all. The children feel part of an academic family & clearly feel loved and supported by the staff. Huge fan!!

Witt Dad: My daughter is blossomed at this school after a false start at the school where she began her elementary years. This is an amazing and experienced staff. I can't say enough about the principal or the team she has put together!

When we arrived at Gene Witt our daughter was behind in reading writing, not quite at grade level. Despite feeling like the majority of the students in her class were well above average in most areas, I felt like her teacher took the time to work with her 1-on-1. I also feel that as parents we have been supported with guidance and tips on how to work with her. We have seen her excel beyond our most hopeful expectations. As a whole Gene Witt's accepted baseline performance is well above average and feedback from the middle school is that the children are very much ahead when they enter 6th grade. I feel like that translates to a sense of pride at the school and both students & parents working harder to reach the goals set out by teachers.

Amazing foundation. We're no longer at Witt, but still a proud member of the Witt Family!

We volunteered here during the Disney Give A Day, Get A Day program. They hosted a Campus Beutification Day. It was very impressive to see a couple of hundreds students and families supporting their school with shovels in hand on a Saturday morning. It is obvious that this is a school that has good parental involvement.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science, and in grades 4, 8, and 10 in writing. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

About the tests

Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
