I graduated from the LIFE program last year. It would have took me 2 years in a regular highschool to make up all the credits I missed. At LIFE iT only took me 2 years to make up what I missed and finish the rest of my highschool credits. I am so thankful for the support of the teachers and other students there. This school is a success but you have to be self motivated!
Horizons is a superb school. My 17 year old son had LD and was in danger of not graduating high school on time. He is on the Horizons LIFE prograsm which wll help him to graduate on time. The school and the staff are gems. I wish my son went there his entire school career. I hope the taxpayers of Manatee County see this site so they know what a treasure Horizons is.
Horizons has helped my son. The teachers and staff are great. I appreciate their careing & support. Thanks again, j friedman
I'm very impressed with the teachers at this small school. Thewarm rapport with teachers and high structure have been just what my middle school daughter has needed to boost her confidence and give her the idea that she can succeed. My impression of the entire staff is that they are dedicated to helping kids. The education my daughter is receiving is appropriate for her. Also, there is an emphasis on learning in the classroom instead of pushing too much homework. I see a lot of creativity being utilized in teaching to a group of kids who learn diffferently. My regrets are that the student population is not varied enough. I think Horizon's ought to try and attract more LD kids. Also, the school is not being given enough money to offer enrichment courses and athletics. I would urge the Manatee School District to support this school and broaden it's mandate.
