I have subbed at Yates several times and I can say that this school is top notch when it comes to discpline and structure. A lot of positive reinforcement is used and the Eaglet Bucks is such a great incentive program for the children! The teachers know thier stuff and are all very warm and welcoming to everyone! I'd jump at the chance to be apart of this school!!! I have learned so much from Yates. This school has really given me tons of experience that will make me a successful teacher in the near future :) Keep up the great work Yates!!!
Yates is an amazing school. I attended Yates when Mr. Wheeler was principal almost 25 years ago. I have the best childhood memories walking through the halls of Yates. Ms. Needer was my daughter's kindergarten teacher last year and helped me get her back on her feet after a bad divorce. Now she is in the first grade with Ms. Purtz and is becoming the confident little girl I knew she could be. The whole staff at Yates is extremely supportive and we feel lucky to be a part of their family. I am looking so forward to my son joining the kindergarten team this coming year.

Yates is an excellent school! My son started in Mrs. Hyder's kindergarten class, she was wonderful! This year he is in 1st grade & loves it. The staff is very kind & Mr. Shields is a great principal. I am proud that my son attends school here & hope to allow him to continue through 5th grade.

I attended Yates 20 years ago and now my daughter attends. I have always loved their atmosphere. The teachers are great and the so is the administration. I frequently eat lunch with my daughter and it is encouraged by the staff. She also attends the after school program across the street and loves it. I will be sad next year bc it is her last year there. I definitely recommend this school. Very focused on learning and building self esteem!!

I recently moved to this location, and must say that I am very please with the staffing and location of the school. My kids love attending, and even though this will be my son's last year hear, he was very happy to have spent his last couple months learning and meeting new friends. Thank you.

the lunch staff is rude to students, the teachers seem annoyed frequently, and they don't seem to have regard for the parent's opinion as much as they should

My child has attended Yates since 1st grade. She is now going into the 4th grade. Teachers are very caring and love the feed back they give me weekly on my childs progress in school.

Our son was at Yates for a short time, but we found the administation members to be informed, helpful and caring. After we informed them of his special needs, they 'streamlined' the evaluation process and were invaluable in helping to formulate his IEP. Accolades go to the ESE specialist who took a personal interest in our sweet boy and aided in his placement in his current school. She put his needs first and we thank her for it!

Great School Overall! SBR (Student Behavior Report) sent home weekly provides good communication between parent and teacher on behavioral concerns. Accountability! Good School History.

My daughter went to Yates for 4th and 5th grade. We thought the teachers really went out of their way to tend to the students' needs, addressing both their strengths and weaknesses. The music program was great with several programs each year. The administration was very involved and loved by the students as well as the parents. Yates is more than just a school... it has a family atmosphere.

Yate is a community alert school very aware of the culture of the neighborhood its located in. The staff is a group of very involved individuals with a high commitment to the overall success of the individual students. There is a good working relationship between parent and teachers as well as administrators. The common goal is the students success.

Pretty run down, have to cross a major road to get to the play ground. Has good teachers though, ok, but not my first choice.

I think that Yates is an excellent school. My daughter ws hesitant to go as it was new to her as we moved from where she went last year and was afraid of not knowing anyone. Fortunately I was able to get her into a class that had another student that used to live in our old neighborhood and the teacher they have (Mrs. Gonzalez) is fantastic. The administration is also very kid oriented as well as the office staff and other personnel of the school. They truly believe in educating the youth and providing for their safety. We have talked of moving and my daughter says as long as she can continue to go to Yates she is happy with that.
