I went to this school when I was a child and now my child goes here. I have not had any issues with the school. I have direct contact with my child's teacher and I make sure that I am involved in my child's eduction, so, communication has not been an issue. My daughter did not know how to read before she started kindergarten and now graduating K, she is reading at a 1st grade level. Her teacher definitly took the time to have the classes organized, stuctured and interesting to keep the attention of the kids. I have relatives and friends with kids in other elementary schools, and out of all of the Hernando county schools, I would say Eastside is the best.

Parents beware!! If you have a choice you need to fight to get them OUT of this school. This school is all about excuses and have no follow through at all. Good luck having anyone call you back. We have had to call the school board several times just to get a response. If you child is a slow learner this may be a OK school. If your child is average or above they will never get challenged. No field trips or fun for the kids. Recess is only a privledge that the child can get if the WHOLE class is good. This is a school that I am strongly apposed of we have had to transfer of children just to get a real education!

My son attended this school in 2005, 2006 and 2007 - 3 years and 3 different principles. The moral among the staff is in the toilet, very few of the teachers at this school truly care about education. On average it would take more than 3 days to get a response from a teacher via email or written note. Parent teacher conferences, good luck trying to schedule one or much less have the teachers show up after it is scheduled. I am highly dissatisified with this school, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

My son went to this school for kindegarten. I am very disappointed in this school. I feel the education provided was mediocre at best and the communication with the teachers and administration with the parents was nearly non-exhistant. At almost 7 he can barely read, although his teacher told me on more than one occasion that he was the brightest in the class. As a single working mom I don't have much time to work on his reading with him, but I can see hat this summer I'll have to work hard to get him caught up for 1st grade. The class only took one field trip squeezed into the very end of the school year to an old, delapitated country zoo. This school again failed Florida's Sunshine standards and because of this parents can have their children transferred to other schools in the county. Mine will be transferred.

I feel that the communications from the school is a bit lacking. They would do well to improve their website & allow parents to sign up for email notifications of events, etc. I believe they would get a much higher level of parent involvement. I was very impressed with their stress on reading. However, for any child that is above average on the learning curve - there seem to be little to no challenging learning opportunities presented to them.

Most of the teachers are passionate about teaching their students, however it is truely up to the students on how much they are willing to learn and succeed! I have only had a few disagreements with certain teachers, but over all this school is good for my children no matter what rating they receive. Thank you to the teachers who work hard and have passion for their profession, and huge hearts for their students.

My three children have attended Eastside now for two years. I feel that it is a wonderful school because of the teaschers and staff that seem to really care and the great enviroment of the school. The staff not only strongly encourage the students to get involved but the parents as well. You could not ask for a better school for your children to attend, then Eastside. I am only taking them out because we are moving to the Tampa area.
