This school is terrific. I would highly recommend it to any family moving here for their child to receive an excellent education. The teachers and staff are all very friendly and professional. This school practices positive reinforcement for behavior. They also get the kids very excited about Reading and Math. Our kids have cried every year they had to end the year with their teachers. Each has truely enjoyed the Pelican experience. I will be sad when they all move onto middle school.
Pelican is a great community school. The teaching staff is diverse which meets the needs of all the students.
Communication seems to be an issue at Pelican. I have two children currently enrolled. I have completed volunteer orientation and am willing to volunteer through out the week, yet the teachers tell me they have nothing for me to do. Issues have gone unresolved even after meeting with the Assistant Principal, Guindance Counselor, Teacher, and Principal. Very disappointed. My children are on a waiting list for another school.
The teachers and staff are so kind and patient with the children. Thegive a decent amount of homework, not too overwhelming. They have lots of events for the children.
I have two children enrolled at Pelican and couldn't be happier. We moved to Cape Coral in January 2009 from Maryland and both my kids love Pelican. I am very pleased with the way the teachers individualize the learning experience for each child. My children have been to three other elementary schools prior to Pelican and it is by far the best school they have attended...If I could give the school a higher rating I would.
I am very displeased with this school. My son did have a great teacher at first but was switched to another teacher shortly after starting here. The teachers asked to have a meeting with me after the end of the quarter. I agreed thinking I would be shown some of my sons progress and areas to work on and maybe some of his tests and etc only to be cornered by the staff who decided to inform me I needed to take my son to a dr and told me to get him on medicine. They even stated they thought he had depression. They even told me I was neglecting my son for not getting him on meds. Thankfully I have changed schools to another close by school. My son is very happy now. His grades are great now and is not having any issues as he supposively did at pelican.
i just love this school. We moved from the north, and I was worried about schools down here. Now, I just love it, my son, 8, is very happy.
Pelican is an outstanding elementary school that provides a well rounded education while putting the student first. Parent and community involvement is welcomed and encouraged. There is variety of extracurricular activities including jump rope team, odyssey of the mind, chorus, and drama
Pelican is a great school with a wonderful staff. I have been as involved as possible considering I work a full time job during the day. I take every chance I get to participate in school activities, events, and field trips. The teachers are very appreciative as well. there could be more extracurricular activities. The jump rope team could be extended to make up a jr. jump rope team for the younger kids who love the activity.
I am thrilled to have my 3rd grade Son at Pelican! We came from a great school in Ga. but a small town where people cared about your kids so I was ready for a shock. Boy did I get one, the people here treat my son just like family! He feels safe, and he is! The gifted program is great with Mr. Nelson and Mrs. Kauffman is fantastic as his every day teacher! He looks forward to getting up for school every day and even likes the food! His favorite subjects are Math and Science and his Reading Teacher has him reading for fun! He is happy and he is learning, plus they just had a school function at a skating rink so the kids get to know each other and have fun wile making money for the school! His Teacher was even there! That's school spirit! You Go Mrs.K!
My older son has had a wonderful experience this far but my younger son has had some teacher issues. The school is old and I often wonder if that contributes to my son's allergies.
Pelican Elementary is a wonderful school full of caring teachers. The teachers at Pelican go the extra mile to ensure that the students are getting the best possible education. They truly care about their students, academically and otherwise. Extra-curricular activities are available in Chorus, Jump-Rope Team and OM. While parents do volunteer in the classroom, the PTO seems extremely limited.
This is a great school. This is what all schools in America should be. A family, they look out for the best interest of your kids and make sure that they are well taken care of in every aspect possible.
My son attended 2nd grade here. Overall I was pleased with this school. They placed a great emphasis on reading which I think is very important. Music and art classes are available. My son really enjoyed attending this school also. Due to my husbands military status, my son was only in this school district for one year, but my sister, who is a permanent resident, rates this elementary school as the best elementary school in Cape Coral, Florida.
This is one of the best schools around. My children have been there for 3 years and every year they have been on the honor roll and one of them actually has perfect attendance. I wish there were more extracurricular activities for the children in the younger grades such as 2nd. I don think that they should have the jump rope team just for 4th and 5th graders but have them start out younger. But over all I wouldnt change my kids school for nothing, no matter what and will be sending my next child there to get the best education.
This school has a strong sense of community. It is in one of the older elementary campuses in the zone. Parents rave about this school over and over again. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The library stays active and the kids seem very happy.
Pelican is a wonderful school for any child to spend their elementary years. I believe that Pelican offers a top notch education along with wonderful character building fundamentals that provide the foundation for a bright future.
Both my children attended school at Pelican Elementary. May 2003 was a sad day. My last child was graduating 5th grade from Pelican. Pelican's principals, teachers and other staff have always been helpful, always willing to listen. This school is run with care, compassion and understanding. I always knew what was happening at school. My child's progress or even when he/she was having problems before it was too late. I give this school an excellent rating.
Pelican Elementary is place where children learn academics, team work, and how to be a good citizen. Respect, honor, and achievement. Good qualities to begin with at such young of age. Having our children go there is a benefit to them. Volunteering there is a joy.
