STEM, technology, Art 1 time per week, the Watch Dog program, the family nights allow for me as a parent to take an active role in my children's education. My two kids love going to school and participating in the after school activities. As a family we are very pleased with the academic programs as well as all the extra-curricular activities.

This is an amazing school I have a very high standard when it comes to choosing a school for my children as I come from a family of high level educators. I am thrilled with the passion delivered by all of the staff, the highly encouraged parent involvement, and the detail to the curriculum. In regards the other parents post, the children can bring water bottles daily and water fountain use is permitted. Children sit with their peers from their class everyday at lunch. I've also never seen any staff members be intimidating or out looking for dress code violations. Quite the opposite actually and I am at the school on a weekly basis to help out, as well as random visits at lunch.

My child's school is Gulf Elementary. This is the sixth child we have put through Gulf. 4 of our children graduated from Gulf and Lee County High Schools. All had college scholarships . All were National Honor Society Students. The foundation was set at Gulf.

My child has attended this school for 3 years and has been miserable. The vice principle stands in the door way upon arrival of the students, staring them down to write all children up for dress code even if it is appropriate. The administration, in my opinion, uses intimidation to scare the children for their own power trips. Children are not allowed to bring water bottles to school nor are they allowed to leave class to go to the water fountains. Kids are split up at lunch and unable to sit with their peers.I myself have complained to the principle in regards to the way the students are treated. the students feel as if they are going to a prison camp. It's very unfortunate, this school has amazing teachers but unprofessional administration, and vice principle. The district should send home surveys to the households and get the feed back about this school to possibly improve policy. It's ashame when students are bullied by their own administration. I would never recommend this school since it destroys self esteem in children, the teachers would benefit from seeking employment elsewhere.

I am a picky parent. I want the best for my kids. I have had great experiences with the teachers. My daughter has fit in quite well and is comfortable with her environment. The 2012-2013 school year has brought many significant changes. The new leadership has had time to implement its mission. Change is hard on the parents and I have tried to take that all into account as I write this review. Over the past few months a chill has crept into the school. What was once a warm inviting place has become cold and indifferent. For the first time ever in 4 years it has begun to feel like the largest elementary school in Lee County. Our family has now become a number instead of a name. Sad.

We moved from New Jersey and both of my kids went to Gulf Schools. My youngest had some difficulties reading but thanks to his teacher Mrs. Guyan, he improved his reading, he learned not only to read great but to enjoy school. His grades were very good and his experience at Gulf Elementary for him and for myself has been a blessing.

My two children attend Gulf Elementary, and I cannot say enough good things about the school. We transferred here from Palm Beach County School District. Talk about a different between night and day. The teachers at Gulf are caring and involved and treat each student like an individual. The instruction at Gulf is excellent. The classes are exciting for my sons. The ESE program is absolutely outstanding. Any time I've had any concern, I was responded to immediately, and the issue was dealt with professionally and promptly. Thank you to all the hard-workers at Gulf elementary.

My 2 kids go to Gulf Elementary when we moved here 2years ago I heard many compliment about this school so when we put them in I was excited but The teachers of my kids were so business like and no passion, they were just too busy to finish their task, all I heard from them were "She can't do this he can't do this. I don't know why can't do it" If they can't be patient, passion or simply can't love kids just quit it. And they are so defensive thats make tall walls between parent & teacher. But their substitute teachers & special ED teacher were great.

ESE teachers are awesome..always going the extra mile . The teachers are dedicated and loving nor have I ever seen such a great principal. Walks around the whole campus. Checking on everyone and everything going on in the school. He knows every childs name. Amazes me.

Great teachers but the leadership simply sucks. The previous principal was much more willing to help with issues to resolve them.

My son is in 5th grade at Gulf Elementary and has been here since 4th grade. Our experience hasn't been that great. The teacher is very nice, competent and returns emails the same day. He is very helpful too. However, there is Bully in the classroom, this kid also misbehaves etc The teacher has declared he cannot handle him and nothing has been done about it. There is no support given to the teacher that is faced with such a challenge. Kids do not assimilate different cultures well.... and they do not offer Spanish. Never have I heard of a school that did not offer Spanish in Florida. Teachers need support it shouldn't be all about the numbers.

Year after year, Gulf Elementary upholds its reputation by being an A+ school. There is much dedication which exists within these school walls and, bottom line, it's all for the sake of putting our children first!

This is our second generation of children going to Gulf Elementary School. Mr. Mesch is a outstanding Prinipal! His excellent memory (remembering each childs name and family members) makes everyone feel very comfortable there and his energetic spirit is contagious. No wonder parents and teachers strive so hard to do their best. The school is equipt with computers and the newest learning equiptment that make them hunger for achievemt. Parents are eager to help and the teachers are very dedicated. I would recommend ths school highly to anyone moving to this area.

As a parent and future educator i am disappointed to say that this school is more concerned with numbers then they are with the education of there students! After expressing my concerns of my sons grades and behavior to the teacher and having no change ... i brought it to the principals in hopes that something could be done ( such as a class change) they were very defensive of there teacher and would not change his classroom to a teacher with a different learning style because it would mess up there class size.In addition I asked to observe and volunteer in my sons classroom to get a better understanding of what was going on. I was ignored and felt pushed away and not involved with my sons education. If you are a parent that wishes to be apart of your son/daughter education please rethink Gulf Elem. School!

My son is in 3rd grade at this school. We moved here in the middle of last school year and we come from an area where the expectations of the children and PARENTS is extremely low. At Gulf Elementary I really feel like everyone is involved in my son's education and truly want him to succeed. He went from failing, barely being able to keep up with his classmates, and really hating school, to making the Honor Roll, and looking forward to doing homework and going to school. This is all within 1 year. My son is being challenged for the first time and really gets to feel good about himself. As a parent, I feel like I know everything that is going on at his school, good and bad. I don't find out things when it is too late to do anything. I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!

Thius is a big school with alot of students but the learning experiences that they receive is outstanding. The teachers and principals really do care and get involved in all daily activities with the students. They are strict but it helps keep all of the children well behaved and respectful. I highly recommend this school to any parent. The gifted program is awesome!

My daughter and son have both gone to Gulf Elementary since Kindergaten. She is now in 5th, he is in 3rd. The school is excellent in every way. This summer they were so excited to go back to school and LEARN! The teachers and principals do their best to keep the kids well behaved and interested... they also organize some great field trips taking advantage of the area we live in. The gifted program is also tops... we are very lucky to have such smart children and a program to enhance their learning experiences. This school is BETTER than a private school. Save yourself the money and put it toward your children's college fund.

My son started out in ESE, and was mainstreamed into a regular class this past year. The teachers, administrators, and teachers' aides have all gone over & above to help our son succeed-we have been so pleased, we're even moving our daughter out of private school to attend Gulf. They track each child and make sure they are challenged at the right level for them; not just letting kids breeze through, either bored or overwhelmed.

This school is the best elementary school in our zone. Our son started in Kindergarten and his teacher had such great experience that she knew right away that he needed to be moved to 1st grade. The staff and administration worked with our son and our family to determine the proper placement for him and we had a great transition. We know that he is being challenged and learning so much. The principals are extremely responsive and truly watch out for the well-being of their children. The kids are well behaved and the staff and environment is so friendly. The parents are very involved at this school and it shows. We looked at the private schools in the area and had our acceptances in hand, but felt this was a better fit for our family and 2 years later we still know that we made the right decision to choose Gulf.

I am so thrilled with Gulf Elementary School. My daughter is in first grade, she started in Kindergarten. I am very happy that this school offers a separate building for children K-2 grades. One of my biggest concerns was that my daughter would be exposed to children 9-10 years old, learning some behaviors earlier than I wished! The curriculum is fantastic - by the end of Kindergarten, she was reading on 2nd grade level and they separate the reading groups by skill level. They do P.E. every other day with other 'labs' in between, including computer, art, music and library. Most of the teachers have been there for years and seem to love what they do. I appreciate that they don't allow children to misbehave to spoil the learning experience for other children. Before you put your child in private school, give Gulf a try. I'm happy that I did!

This is a great school. I feel that my kids are exceling at Gulf. The enviroment is friendly and I feel comfortable that my children are really loved by the teachers. There is the usual 'teacher' stuff I call it, meaning some teachers do things a little odd. I highly recommend this school.

Our son started kindergarten at Gulf Elementary in August. While we are only approximately two months into the school year our experiences have been very positive. The teacher provides constant communication and feedback. She has been available to meet with us and talk about issues that may concern us. Our son is already happy and settled into his new routine. We can see the progress he makes and most importantly is excited about learning. My only concern would be the lack of school uniforms. Gulf had such an excellent reputation we chose the school in spite of this, but basic uniforms would enhance the learning environment. It is not as much an issue in kindergarten as becomes in the future, but it nearly swayed us from choosing Gulf. Especially with most schools in the distric already having basic uniform requirements.

Mrs. Kernick is a great asset to Gulf Elementary. In my daughters class however was filled with unruly children who parents were uninvolved making it difficult for the 'good' ones to learn. Mrs. Kernick did her best with the resources that were available.

Our experience with Gulf Elementary has been limited thus far, but from what I can tell they are a wonderful close-knit school. The VE programs are well rounded with excellent teachers. The principal is caring, the staff effecient, and the teachers attentive. I only have refrence of this school via their VE programs, and I have been nothing but impressed thus far. Gulf has recieved a grade of 'A' based on their FCAT testing. The campus is nice, and they are building a new building to make it better. I can't think of one negative thing to report on this school. We are very pleased!

My daughter attended this school from K-5th. Now my son is in 2nd grade at Gulf Elementary. I could not be any happier with the Principal, teachers, and staff. I feel my children are getting a private school education in a public school setting. The parent participation is wonderful and this is attributed to the encouragement on the part of the Gulf Elementary staff. I have been picking up and dropping off for 7 years and have never had a problem considering the amount of parents dropping off their children. Keep up the great work!
