Plumb is a fantastic School and weve had a great experience up until second grade we were placed with Mrs. Macuiba and are highly disppointed in her behavior. She lacks professionalism, talks down to students and talks at parents. She has no sensetivity to these young students and treats these 7 year olds as if they are teenagers. When they dont understand something she refuses to expalin to them again and penalizes them for not paying attention. I and other parents have made several complaints to the school and nothing gets done. Instead my child continues to get penalized for the complaints and every day feels defeated and does not want to go to school. Every year prior my child was a model student and LOVED School, now my child feels defeated. Mrs. Macuiba should not be teaching second grade she does not have to sensativity and the nurturing capabilities that these children need at this age. She is better suited to teach at a older age level. I am not writing this to slander her I am writing this because something needs to be done.
Plumb Elementary is an outstanding school in all areas! My daughter has attended Plumb for the past 5 years and has been very successful! The teachers are very enthusiastic and ready to educate children to the fullest extent. I would highly recommend this school to anyone new to the area.
This school used to be a great school. Their used to be a wonderful science shack were children were active hands on learners. This has been replaced with a science video for the lesson. The art teacher at this school squashes children's creativity. One quote from her to a student in first grade was "I have a three year old at home that can draw better than you" . Where is the school that builds children's self confidence? Not here, instead the reality here is favoritism and unequal opportunities for learners. If you want your child to love learning DO NOT send them here.
I am extremely disappointed in where this school is heading. I have been with Plumb for a long time. Ever since the new administration was assigned to this school, the school has started going down hill fast! The new administration has no respect for their parents or teachers. I have had many of my friends leave the school for this reason or be placed on a waiting list for other schools ( Curtis or Pinellas Prep).
Plumb has been the called the 'jewel of Pinellas County'...it's a wonderful school...with warm and caring teachers and parents. I've had two kids go through, and both are honor students and one is gifted. It's the closest thing you'll get to a private school. Wonderful!
Wonderful school, great academics! Children have great academica foundations and excell at higher levels in other schools!
My daughter is finishing her last year at Plumb, the experience she had was wonderful. I highly recommend this school. Thanks to the great team!!!
My family has moved a lot and my son has been to 5 different elementary schools. 3 up north and 2 in Pinellas county. We have finally settled down and he has been at Plumb for 4th and 5th grade and it is the best school he has been to. His grades are better than ever. He has only been bullied once and it was taken care of immediately. His last Pinellas county school was full of bullying. He cried that he did not want to go to school in 3rd grade. Now at Plumb he loves school. The teachers are very easy to reach and from what my son says, very nice. He's made a lot of friends which is hard for him because he is shy. They have phys ed more often than some of his other schools and a few really good field trips this year.
My daughter amanda is in Ms. Ledbetter's 3rd grade class. I can not say enough about this fantastic school, her teachers, the YMCA, PTA and the family of teachers and parents I have grown to love. I recruit nurses and have developed a jewelry line. If not for the fantastic start we had at Plumb, we would have not had such great success.
Plumb is a well rounded school. Parent involvement is amazing. The PTA is there to help the students and teachers succeed. The principal is there for success of the students. A positive enviornment full of learning and positive reinforcement. A public school with amazing school pride. The students succeed at their academics. The special education programs allow the students to achieve their goals with the necessary help. The gifted program allows the students to positively challenged. I cannot complain about anything. I am very happy with the school. Second grade parent.
good school, strong volunteers. Emphasis on reading, writing, good p.e. varied activities
This is my sons 3rd year at Plumb and I have to say that we are very happy with this school. His teacher Mrs Meloy (third grade) is great. The school has alot of parental involvement and makes learning fun and adventurous for our kids! 'Kuddos to Plumb Elementary and the great staff'. Stephanie Stola
Plumb elementary is considered by many to be one of very best schools in Pinellas County. Plumb has a great family atmosphere and high parental involvement. My own experience has been completely positive. The children at Plumb have become much more than just 'test takers', they actually develop a love of learning. All public elementary schools should be this great.
I was happy with this school last year because my child was lucky enough to have a good teacher. But this year was a big disappointment! My child was harassed by a bully in his class. He was so miserable and his grades slipped. Finally I reported it to the pricipal, she did take action promptly and took care of the bully. But since that incidence, my child was punished by his teacher with bad behavior and conduct grades! My child has never received any behavior complaints before until this teacher.
Larger school in a nice, stable neighborhood. High parental and community involvement. We had an excellent Kindergarden experience. The teachers we are familiar with have advanced degrees, national certification and a dynamic teaching style. This is a very upbeat environment for learning.
Plumb Elementary is a fantastic school, my child has had nothing but good experiences and is excelling in all areas!
My impression is that this is a great primary school. Unfortunately, this school district was done away with geographical districting of students. Thus, one cannot simply more into the 'Plumb District' and attend the school. This is a significant policy change. This school is in a very safe neighborhood, has good facilities, and a strong base of local support.
After several months of observation, and quickly approaching the end of this school year I feel confident that this has been the wisest change we have made for our children. Coming from a parochial school we were slightly apprehensive about entering the public school system, but we knew how fortunate we were, with Choice in action, to get our boys enrolled at Plumb. That apprehension quickly faded and as we watch our three sons thrive we feel so blessed to be a part of this wonderful extended family. The boys have so many opportunities that we did not have before and there is no doubt that they are receiving an excellent education. We have always told them that there is no limit to what they can achieve, and Plumb allows them to spread their wings and soar!
Before purchasing my home in 2001, I did extensive research on all of the Pinellas County Schools. I began by looking at school ratings, I spoke with parents who had children enrolled in several of the elementary schools to see how they felt about the quality of eduacation that their children were receiving, and I visited each school multiple time with both scheduled and unscheduled visits to classrooms of several grades. What I found was that there was a sharp divide. Several schools I found unacceptable, athe the remaining I felt encouraged about. With the Choice program in the making, I wanted to ensure that the school that I chose would be the one my son would indeed attend. I chose Plumb for several reasons and am happy to report that after 2 years, I am happy with that choice. This school affords parents the opportunity to be involved in many aspects and encourages that parent participation. If you are feeling overwhelmed about making this important choice, I can honestly say that you can't go wrong with this school. The teachers are dedicated and the learning atmosphere is very condusive to a safe, happy, and enjoyable learning environment.
My son loves this school, he is in grade K and loves his teacher Mrs. Saari. She is a wonderful teacher. He never wants to miss school. Great parental involvement and outside school activities. Lot of opportunity for parental voluntering.
