My son just completed 1st grade. He started the year at another school (I will not disclose the name) but according to Great Schools it received excellent reviews. Well, I can tell you Winstin Park is waaaay better. The staff is friendly, inviting, and the teachers actually care about their students' well being. The teachers do not have that feet-dragging, clock-in/ clock-out kind of energy that I have seen in other schools. I greatly appreciate this school and this review comes from a parent that went through boundary changes and has experienced more than one elementary school in just two years. Parents are friendly and involved. I just moved to the area and am so glad to have this school. I can't wait for my daughter to start!
My grandchildren have attended this wonderful, neighborhood elementary school and one is still with you in the second grade. I hope that you will continue to educate and protect our children in love.
Winston Park Elementary is an excellent school! My daughter is currently in Kindergarten and she is very happy!
My son attends there and s doing well. He loves his school and I am a satisfied parent.
Is a great school but now my daughter is in 5th. grade and her math teacher is really a bad teacher, she doesn't teach every page from the book and I have to teach and I have difficult with the language... and worst .. when the students take their test and they get a bad grade like D and the only one or two of them get a A grade.. she start yelling to the kids saying why don't understand, why don;t study... what do you think? What I suppose to do? complaint? with who?
It's not a bad school. Just be careful not to think it's an upper middle school because you think that it's an upper middle area. You will see a lot of rough students are bussed in and it draws from a foster home with some tough kids too. It can't be helped. Also the area not as good as you might think. Look carefully. You can't always judge a book by it's cover. It will depend on the teacher and you'll never ever see the principal. Never. I don't think parent involvement is encouraged either. But it's not an awful school.
Pick your school based on parental involvement not just the teacher. I used this site to come to our conclusions on where we wanted to move and saw that this school was a consistent high performer compared to other Broward schools but wasn't suspiciously perfect. I say suspicious because I actually think the drive for perfection is ripe for gaming the system...ie holding back kids with ESL, learning disabilities, behavior disorders rather than providing them with extra guidance in order to boost test scores per grade level. Winston Park seems to strive for a healthy balance where the faculty really care about the three way relationship between teacher, parent, and children. This is a good school because parents are given input and allowed to participate as a partnership with the teachers. A bad school never gives parents an opportunity to be informed or form an alliance with their kids teachers. I find it hard to imagine that such a school exists but many districts just have bad relations with parents/students because the families are primarily concerned with survival not education. This section of Coconut Creek is a upper middle income area. Education is a priority.
Winston Park has fabulous teachers. The one's my child has had are caring and want to see her succeed. The problem with Winston Park is the administration. The principal is rude. She talks down to parents and if opinions differ she raises her voice to get her point across. Your concerns will not be addressed.
My daughter goes to this school and is in first grade. She has a great teacher and is learning alot from her teacher Mrs. Gray.
Winston Park Elementary is giving my child the guidance she has needed. Though she is only in 2nd grade I could she her changing in a good direction. I am grateful to her first grade teach Mrs. Lustig who took the time and effort to support her and I with my daughter's reading skills. I also have to say that the Principal and the teachers are very friendly and caring. The PTA and volunteers make a difference in Winston Park Elementary. I would recommend WPE to anyone. It does help that this will be the 8th year they have scored A in the district.
Winston Park is a terrific, A+ School! I love it, my children love dit and I love Ms. Williams; she is the BEST Office staff, Ms. MunoZ and Ms. Courtney (2nd grade) and all the Kindergarten Teachers are awesome! Hats off to Winston Park Elementary. Jenny Higo
This a great school with wonderful teachers.I would recommend this school to anyone coming into the area. This is a wonderful school.
This is a wonderful school, my children are very happy with the teachers and feel very safe.
It all comes down to the teacher, if the teacher is good, the school is great. Some teachers are more concerned about discipline than they are teaching. This may be a necessity with some children, but when this is the focus in the classroom the teaching lacks. There needs to be more of an 'open door' policy with all of the teachers at this school.
Overall my experience at Winston Park has been good. My main area of concern is the lack of communication between the teachers to the parents. Other then that my son's experience has been a good one. And he has a good teacher who does care about him.
For the most part Winston Park is a great school. I have a very bright child and I have had some difficulty with the staff. When I called regarding her reading test I was talked down to as if I did not know anything about school or my child. Other than that I feel the school is terrific. My daughter's current teacher is loving, understanding, fair, firm and really cares about the kids.
I think Winston Park Elementay is a great school. They have reading groups for the children that need reading help. They have a great music teacher who puts on a talent show each year. The only thing I can say negative is the FCAT testing, but that goes for every public school in Florida not just Winston Park.
