Entering summer after he had finished his last year of pre-K at another school, my son began expressing some nervousness about attending Kindergarten at St. Thomas. His teacher mentioned to us that he had brought up the subject more than once and that we might be in for a rocky road, at least initially. As it turned out, his transition from pre-school to Kindergarten was seamless. Everyone at St. Thomas--- from his teachers to the Administrators to his fellow students--- made him feel welcome and safe. He told me at dinner last night, with evident pride, that he had already made 9 new friends and that soon he'll probably have too many to count! We could not be happier with our initial experience at this fine school.

This school is small and caring, attending to the personal needs of every child. They have chapel everyday and teach a 'secondary curriculum' on living an ethical life even to the very young. The parents ar very involved, sometimes too much. It is a very affluent place and the parents' need to flaunt their wealth can be a little annoying. The children have not generally learned this behavior yet and are on the whole delightful. I think that has a lot to do with the nuturing they get at school. It is a highly regarded feeder school to the other private middle schools and the students are well prepared. Both of my children attended and have prospered.

This is a great school. They develop kids with a love to learn and it works. The classes are small and the kids are nurtured and challenged. The SAT scores of both of my kids were amazing, most subjects above the 90%.They have a fabulous art program. Kids learn about different artist, painters, sculptors, etc. My daughter in Kindergarten can recognize an impressionist painting and the artist. Last year Brito came to the school and painted a mural with the kids. The music program has evolved and by fourth grade they can read music and pick an instrument. All grades have a formal music class, plus a chorus. They have a lot of extracurricular activities. From cooking to robotics. From ballet to flag football. Parents are extremely involved in the school and the administration encourages it.
