Rolling into the 2013-14 school year, we will focus on "Living the Life" Christ has called us to. Middle School students have the opportunity to register for new electives including Yearbook Production and H.O.P.E. online course. This year PCA Panthers will step onto the athletic scene in both co-ed soccer and boys basketball. Elementary students are offered the opportunity to be a part of the safety patrol squad, participate in book buddies, local outreach/mission opportunities, and afterschool enrichments such as Bricks4Kidz and You Can Do the Cube. Selecting a school for your child is an important decision and you have many educational options in the surrounding area. Whether you are a first time parent trying to decide on a preschool for your child or a family exploring Elementary or Middle School options, we are here to serve you through the "information gathering" process and to later assist you through the admissions process if you choose to apply at PCA.
My child is in VPK. We went to an excellent preschool for the past 2 years but they did not offer VPK (MHOC).Rebecca Rosa treated me like a stranger when I was dropping off my child. I did not have my badge and she sent me to the office. I understand enforcing security but it was not even pick up. I am his mother and was treated like an intruder right outside the class. Admin is not effective. At MHOC, principal knew all by name. She was big on the philosophy of the school. We were emailed by the teachers weekly about what is going on in the classroom. They had a note on the door everyday for us to read what they did. Here, we get emails about PTA meetings that we are not involved in but no emails about the class our child is in. It starts with order in admin for the rest of the faculty to align. The children had a performance last night and I felt bad because for each song, the person playing it messed up all night and the children looked lost. We can't volunteer in the class unless we get background checked. At MHOC, we were able to volunteer 6 times for the year & not only did we get a discount off tuition but we were able to see how our child is in class.
I have had the pleasure of having three of my special needs children in this school for three years. It has been a great way for my children to grow spiritually and academically.
My daughter just graduated 8th grade after spending 5 years at the Academy. She is now enrolled in The Quantum Leap program at CSHS. She is taking dual enrollment classes and AP courses. Her ability to be in this program as a freshman is a direct result of the dedicated teachers at Parkridge. PCA is a place where extra attention can be given to those who need a little extra help or challenge those who are above grade level. My daughter went into High school with 2 H.S. credits, one of which was Algebra.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this school! They love my children as their own. As a fulltime working mom it is reassuring that when I drop my kids off to school I know that they are safe and well cared for and they transition in to aftercare and are loved just as much there!
The teachers are WONDERFUL here! Ms V treats my daughter as if she were her own , while teaching her sign language and much more. My vpk student has the best time with her positive teachers and the curriculum is far superior than her previous school, is doing simple math problems and reading, science projects !! So happy here!!
I am the parent of a middle school student. The program is simply amazing. The love that the teachers have for their job is evident. My son is excelling academically! The new administration is amazing as well Mrs. Wicker has taken PCA to a new level! Love her involvement with the program!
I have a child in the preschool and it is amazing. Miss Jobbitt loves my little one. She is amazing with the kids, and is always so pleasant.
I have to disagree with some of the negative comments here! Parkridge Christian Academy is a GREAT school- small class size, loving teachers, very strong leadership, and an amazing office staff! It's a shame that some are not able to see the "goldmine" that they have in PCA! I am proud to send my children to a school where Jesus is first! My children are thriving at this school and they absolutely love it! It is, in my opinion, the best kept secret in Broward County! Mrs. Wicker is a dedicated and sincere pricipal, committed to keeping the school Christ centered with a very strong academic program. I am proud to be a PCA parent!
My grandchildren attend the school and they love it. The one on one attention they receive from the smaller class size is amazing. The children have a real sense of belonging. The teachers and administration are caring and nurturing and clearly committed to quality and strong Christian values.
We did not have a good experience at the preschool. They changed teachers like you changed clothes and I never got great feedback from the teachers. I met 2 preschool teachers who taught there after we had left the school and they also mentioned that they resigned because of the administrative issues in the school. One teacher actually advised me to take my son elsewhere since the school didn't have enough funding to keep the kids engaged. I will definitely not recommend the preschool.
My Child is in 1st grade. It is now October and I have to say I am very impressed with the principal Mrs. Wicker. She has strong communication with all of the parents in my daughters class. I love the small teacher to student ratio it is almost half of what it would be at a public or charter school 9 to 1. This provides a learning environment that is non-existent in most schools today public or private. ACSI accreditation is why I picked parkridge though it is just my first year I am very happy. My sister has her son who is 3 in the pre-school program she is pleasantly surprised how fast her son learning. The school seems to me to be very caring for all the students.
My two year old son is in the pre-school program. Parent communication is quite frequent. All I can say is my son loves Ms Jobbit she is a great asset to the PCA team. The children go out to the playground twice a day, which is very important to me. I love how much the teachers care they truly give my 2 year old the attention, care and love. I was so hesitant to put my baby in school but I am glad I did. PCA is my eyes is the best I will have my son stay until 8th grade.
I have two children in Parkridge CA and have had the great pleasure of experiencing both the preschool and elementary programs. My children are thriving both academically and spiritually under the care and attention of the dedicated teachers, pastors, staff and directors! They love, nuture and care for our children as if they were their own and we completley trust them with our children's education. The class parents, families and volunteers are amazing to work with as well. Our family is truly blessed that God has led us to Parkridge.
I just met with Ms.Wicker this week and she seems sincere. She does have an intensity about her the previous principal did not but look at how she has had to enter this position??!! She was shown nothing but hatred and surrounded by pure gossip! How would all of you "Christians" respond to that welcome?! I believe my son will thrive even more this year then he did last year because we finally have a direction! The only thing in life that is constant is change...and we all know how scary change can be! Let's give her a chance! I will because I have faith in the Lord and a undying faith and love in my son. His plan is a plan for success! I prayed and found this school, I prayed and found his therapist, and I will continue to pray because I know God and not Mrs.Wicker nor Pastor Brad are in control. Only God. They will do what is right and honor gods will. Have faith and show the same respect you would want shown.
I have my 2 year old son in this school. They care for my son like it was their own. I am currently a Kindergarden teacher and have seen kids in my class from this school grow to be very successful in the Kindergarden Curriculum. The learning is top notch the staff is very caring the environment is very clean. My only compliant is to have a healthier food options available to students who do not want to bring their own lunch.
I will be short, not happy. Teachers make immature decisions and get away with it. They also don't know how or don't want to support the student.
Parkridge Christian Academy has the following 6th grade's great instructors: Mr. Halulko, Ms. Magee, Mr. Pierce (guitar instructor). They are innovative, creative, responsible, motivate the students to do their best. They really care. We are bless to have them as our child instructors. God bless them!
My daughter is in the 3-year-old classroom and she loves it! The teachers care for her as if she was their own child. She has grown socially, academically and spiritually since entering PCA.
Parents beware: this is the same school as "Parkridge Christian Pre-School". They changed the name a few years ago. The director is deceitful: says all the perfect answers that parents and government officials want to hear to make everything look "good". After numerous careless mistakes and several meetings with teachers and director, it was obvious to me that they lack the level of responsibility, professionalism and organizational skills required to be the kind of school they claim to be. "Forgetting" my child that was supposed to be picked up for after school care, letting child walk out of after school care, forgetting to administer my child's breathing treatment are some of the many mistakes made. Academics: my son went from average to "below average" in Math the first year he was there...This school has a lot of growing and staff "clean-up" to do before they can be who they say they are. My husband and I tried for three years, giving them many chances, but sadly they never got their act together.
A christian school kicks a 2 year old out of school after 1 incident and NO WARNINGS!!!!! Hands the 2 year olds posessions (just the diapers and wypes that were provided, not the personal items he had created in the school) and says we made the decision that we DO NOT WANT YOUR SON IN OUR SCHOOL. No sit down explanation and no bye. Would GOD do this? Or would GOD want to help. I do not think this school really represents GOD!!!!!!!
