Your child will not receive individual attention unless they are lucky enough to get one of the truly interested teachers, but thankfully there are quite a few. Your child will be just another face in the crowd, unless you somehow manage to break into the "PTA Mom" clique. You could meet the Principal or AP ten times & they would still not know you. A great number of the parents are rude, especially in the car line, which really prevents any feeling of "community". I have very little confidence that my child is being challenged to reach her full potential. It is not surprising to me that Westchester's "Great Schools" score has dropped to a 7 from an 8 last year.

This school seems to be effective only if your child receives one of the teachers who show genuine interest.

My child is not challenged and it does not seem the environment at this school encourages this.

I definitely love love love this school. My daughter came from Imagine Charter School below the grade level standards and low self esteem, thinking she wasn't able to have good grades. Ms Loaiza is the best teacher my daughter could have in 2nd grade, she helps her to improve her grades, and gave her confidence on herself. My husband and I were in constance communication with her because my daughter needed a lot of help.. In my opinion because the previous school didn't help her at all. In contrary with the Charter School this School have amazing programs to help the kids improve. The staff very good and the principal excellent. I nothing bad to say about this school.

I've been at this school for a few years and and nothing but issues. This school is good about keeping issues under the rug. I have to agree with the other parent who commented about the bullying because my child has been a victim to it. Three times in 2 months and absolutely nothing was done. Aftercare is a joke the kids HAVE SUPERVISION. When you pull up to pick up your kids the "counsellors" are either on their phones or they have their backs turned toward the children. My experience with two of the teachers were horrible. They were rude, unsupportive and went out of their way to insult children will learning disabilities. I experienced it first hand when I volunteered. It's so sad! The principal and vice principal are good at either looking away or covering it up.

We have only been going there a few weeks, but the experience has been very good so far. The school is very engaged, and the teacher takes personal interest in success of the child. The classroom seems to have required facilities like enough iPads, computers, stationary, etc. The lunch provided seems healthy and adequate

I have 3 kids that went to Westchester Elementary. We had to relocate because of my husbands job, we were all excited except for my son who had to leave his school. Now, my kids are all high achievers and can function in any situation. Remember that no matter what you are faced with teachers work with you when you gave them the opportunity to do so. Always gave them the opportunity to help. I have always been fortunate to get wonderful teachers. Special mention to my son's teacher to Ms Dowling, if your child is going to third grade request her. She's strick but kind, in her class your kids can dream, there imagination is peeked. They are taught to become the best. My son's new school is a 9/10 and very nice teacher. Ms Dowling KEEP BEING AN INSPIRATION TO OUR KIDS, KEEP BEING A TEACHER. WHEN YOU LEAVE A SCHOOL LIKE WESTCHESTER YOU SEE THE REAL BENEFITS AND LEARN TO APPRECIATE A LITTLE MORE WHAT YOU HAD IN TEACHERS. I missed all those wonderful projects.

Westchester is a great neigborhood school! My son is going in to 2nd grade, and we couldn't be happier with our experiences thus far. Principal Gerraine is open to new ideas and very open and friendly with parents. The school does not rest on its "A" they are always trying to improve. There is a small group of teachers that are very active with the PTA which is nice!

My daughter Gianna goes to Westchester at Coral Springs and she loves it she has had great teachers. We have only two years in this state and are primary language is Latin and my daughter know to read and write in English almost every word and her speaking is amassing and I cant leave out the good security, organization and care for these kids the school has. This has to do a lot with the principal, she is a 100% involve each day I see her and in every activity" is nice to have some one that dedicates her self to are kids". I am very happy and my little girl loves it!

I love the Gifted Program! My daughter is a gifted student and at Westchester Elementary she receives all the help she needs to develop her skills. The program focuses on the kids abilities and promotes their development. Teachers are great and the staff is very kind. They also have a very good after school program. Westchester has some excellent teachers and a wonderful Principal 'Mr. LeFevre' that really care about the kids academic progress and safety. The PTA is large and very involved and is able to supply additional resources for the students. Not to mention the school is situated in nice area and is adjacent to a middle and high school. I am grateful to have had two excellent, caring, pleasant and nurturing teachers for my son thus far. Westchester is a terrific school. We moved from PA this year and my son started K here - Mrs. Driscoll is incredible and the kids are doing advance work in reading and math. I am very happy with everyone at the school. The after care program is also very good and they are very security focused -- even grandparents have to show their ID when picking up the kids. Have to love that. My son is so so happy here.

Westchester is the greatest. In our 5 years there we have not had any real problems or concerns. The teachers have been excellent, the principal very visible and involved and the remainder of the staff is always pleasant and helpful. I can't even think of any changes I would recommend!

Westerchester is a wonderful school. The principal is very engaged with the children, he is caring and firm at the same time. The teachers, I can't say enough, my son is going into fifth grade and we have had a wonderful year. The only thing that I can see needs improvement is, some new items for recess, balls etc.

While I suppose everyone's experiences depend upon the teacher your child gets, we have had a wonderful 5 years at Westchester! The posting from January that stated 'no science', is untrue. In addition to science in the classroom, there is a Science Lab that all children attend just like PE, Music, Technology, Spanish and Art. With state mandated Benchmark Testing and FCAT testing, each area of education must be taught in order for the children to pass. We have been very happy with our our children's progress and their experiences.

Overall westchester is an excellent school. There is a lot of parent volunteers and parents are always welcome. Students also are involved in many programs that are volunteer based such as meet the masters and read with me as well as the daily specials like art, media, spanish, science ect. Academically I have been very pleased. My child has all the materials he needs to suceed throughout his school years. The staff are very knwledgable and helpful and always visable anytime of day. I am very happy.

My daughter is in the 1st grade and today was reading a level 3 book to me. This is enough to summarize the type of education she is receiving. Children are treated like children but are also taught responsibility and each year it appears they are treated a little more strict. Homework is given even in the smaller grades and expected to be returned in a timely manner. I would definetly recomment this school

Even though this school is rated an 'A' school, it is the biggest joke I have ever seen. The teachers don't spend much time explaining the information in class (that is, if they explain it) and the parents are expected to teach the material to the children. The principal and many of the teachers operate by instilling fear in the kids. There is too much emphasis on passing standardized tests instead of learning basic fundamentals. There is no gymnasium at this school and PE consists of activities such as Yoga in a Chair. Art and music do not have classrooms, they just come around on a cart and do not teach the kids much. Science is also considered a 'special' and not an integral part of the education. Recess is rediculously short and the toys are basically nonexistant. Overall, this is a horrible elementary school, regardless of its grade.

This school has an outstanding academic program with loving and caring teachers. They encourage the envolvement of parents in the classroom. The only down side is the childern did not particapate in a holiday show. That was somewhat disappointing.

I have several family members who have/are attending this school and both the students and their parents have nothing but wonderful things to say about this school. The teachers are attentive and skilled. The students feel comfortable and welcome at this school from day one. My nephew had the opportunity to go to a private school and chose Westchester because his sisters had been so happy there.

The teacher that my son has is wonderful. He went into kindergarten not knowing how to read and with 2 months left of school, is already reading on a first grade level. It is the teacher that pushes the children to develop. The aftercare program is wonderful as well. My son hasn't been sick very much, but the school does a great job of letting the families know what is going around. The principal seems very dedicated and the children appear to be happy. The weekly newsletter is very informative. I happen to like the fact that the school has a uniform code. Makes it easier on the morning and the pocketbook. I would highly recommend this school.
