My Grandson moved here from Kentucky this past summer and is in 10th. grade at Wakulla High. It has been a challenge for him but the teachers and student counsel have been wonderful to him and informative to me. He could not get over how friendly all the kids are. l should have realized the quality and friendliness of the school when we went to register him and we were walking out of the school by some people talking and someone said, are you coming to school here this year? And when my grandson said yes the man introduce himself as the principle and offer his assistance if he ever needed it.

Just moved here from a nearby county and am just amazed at the difference! It's nice to be at a school where the teachers teach the kids and don't expect the parents to! My kids love all their teachers and have been accepted by the students. They have found academically challenging courses and a top notch medical program here at the high school! I am rating this school 5 out ot 5!

If more people had experienced other schools in areas like south Florida they would have rated it much higher. This is one school that still provides good basic life foundations while it stays up to date on their curriculum. A +++ in my book

This is an excellent high school! There are many academically challenging courses and lots of extracurricular activities! The High School Marching band just got the highest ranking at their annual Marching Band Assessment Competition!

I recently moved to Wakulla County and have a student at the high school. I have been very impressed with the staff and teaches at the high school. I heard that Wakulla High School has more board certified teachers than most schools in Florida and it shows! The extracurricular activities at this school are also very strong and very accepting of new students! My student is getting a solid education and enjoying all the activities at the high school. Also I have found the students here to be friendly and caring.

The new princepal has really changed things around. This school has upped its standards quite a bit and is fully deserving of the 'A' they received. Great job, Wakulla!

I think that Wakulla High has it's problems, just like every other school...but all around, it's a great school! It's small enough that you know everyone and big enough that you don't necessarily have to like everyone. I graduated from here and I would send my kids there in a heartbeat!!

I think this school is amazing. The teachers are caring and will work with their students until everything is worked out. I think that every student in the honors classes would say that the other students are caring also and always willing to help with any assignment.

I think Wakulla has very caring teachers and not enough teeneagers that care about their academic level and the reason for that is the school is too leniant on codes and clothes. I went to Wakulla High and I definently did not feel safe at all! ~Danielle H.

I just graduated from this high school. I can say that the four years that I attended were absolutely wonderful. Mr. Newland, the principal, is very attentive to what the students needs are. I will never forget the many times I would see him at numerous places cheering on our students. There is just no words to describe Wakulla High other than great!

WHS has gotten so much out of control concerning the students clothing & use of cell phones. I've observed female students wearing see thru clothes, tight clothes, shirts that reveal way to much stomach area and showing their cleavage area. Cell phones in the school shouldn't even be alowed because it's interfering with their daily activities. I've also observed at the end of the day after the bell rings students with vehicles go out to the parking lot, get into their cars and park them in front of the school area where parents are picking up their students everyday. Clean it up!

I, for one, did go to Wakulla High School for two years. It is not the best school to go to. Nor is it the worst. There is a lot of drug and alcohol problems though and a lot of fights. Barely anyone gets in trouble for them either. So therefore, I do not say that Wakulla High is a safe school.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science, and in grades 4, 8, and 10 in writing. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
