Teachers and staff are professional and courteous. However, students are taught the test and free thinking is NOT encouraged. This school may rate as an A+ but this does not mean that students are being taught to think, just take tests.

This is very much a teach to the test school, so if you are looking for your child to be educated to be a factory worker you have come to the right place.

My oldest daughter attended Antioch 3rd - 5th grade. We loved it. We left Okaloosa county for a couple of years and during that time my second daughter had to go to other elementary schools. I never found another school that I thought was as good as Antioch. I don't believe that any school is perfect but I think Antioch is close enough. The principal is great and stays on top of everything. And majority of teachers are wonderful!

I had an initially bad experience when my daughter started at this school with a teacher that seems to be the exception to the rest, she politely told me that my child was not on grade level and that she didn't know why I had put her there. Well after meeting after meeting with the principal, guidance counselor and the teacher it was discovered that she, my daughter, had an issue with staying on task so her initial placement test were given to her again in a more structured setting and she pretty muched aced them. That particular teacher is still there and I am thankful that they saw fit to move my child to a different teachers class and helped her to excell...and all the remainder have been nothing short of GREAT!!! I feel that this is an awesome school that provides a safe and well rounded learning environment.

Be careful of some teachers. They really focus on the 'perfect' students and act like they don't have extra time to help every child. I agree with a previous poster. They try to make all the kids the same, and there is not time for them to socialize. They teach the FCAT and in my opinion, not skills for life. Depending on the teacher, expect your child to jump a grade and know everything on entering a new classroom. The principal is receptive if you have a problem, but know that your teacher will label your child and make sure other teachers know it, if you have concerns about the classroom. Some teachers are very defensive and are more interested in their own self-esteem than teaching ALL children. I plan on writing some definite reviews of my child's teacher on Rate My Teacher after this school year. Stay involved and positive!

Overall it really depends on the teacher your child gets. They don't have recess, only PE, which is common around here. The kids can't talk a lot at lunch, so they really aren't getting any energy out. If you have any problems with your teacher, they'll talk you in circles, as will the principal. They don't try to make things better. The principal is not the best, she really only makes my child feel bad, they try to make everyone the same, my child stands out. She's very creative in her clothes and hair, but she's an honor roll student and doesn't get in trouble, but the principal talks to her more than the bully beating up her friends. Watch your teachers, don't let them slide on anything. They'll only get worse if you do!

My son went here for Kinder and the teachers were so helpful and welcoming. I am a stay at home mother and I was worried about the transition, but he did great. These teachers care about their students and make a safe comfortable environment for learning.

I have a child that goes to Antioch has been for 3 years and Ill be glad when shes out of this school.I dont agree with them and I am not an {in} parenteven tho I volunteer for school trips and other things but still I dont think my child gets what she needs. And I will be glad when shes out of Antioch. There are good teachers but you also have the ones with I dont have time for you today ones. And yes the staff stick together when you have a problem with a teacher or any other member.I have been right out lied to my face from some. But you have ppl like the bus driver and the nurse whom I like very much. They are my support group and Im glad that they are there if my child should need them.
