I think this school is a great example of a neighborhood school. The principal, Kim Flynn has really had a great impact on the educational environment and has incorporated the basic skills of reading writing and math applications in all the subjects which gives the student every day applications of what they are learning. In my daughter's 6th grade math class they would spend part of the period practicing their writing skills and in science they were required to keep a daily journal. I would have liked the educational team to be more interested in individual students nd their strengths and weaknesses but understandably with the lack of appropriate funding from the state level they are over worked and underpaid. I msut say the 6th grade assistant principal, Brian Kingsley is outstanding in motivating the students and made me feel, as a parent, a really important member of the educational team.

My son has been in a private school for six years. Not only did my child (and myself) have a transition from elementary to middle this year, but we also transferred from private to public for the first time. The entire staff at Olsen have been so comforting and caring. The professionalism and love starting with the Principle down to the janitors is absolutely amazing. I attended parent orientation this week and met all of my son's teacher. Each and every one of them are extremely dedicated to the children. I didn't think there was any possible way I could be more impressed; until last night when I met the teachers. Not only do I love the teachers, but my son does as well. I know my son is going to excel this year, with the help of the awesome staff at Olsen.

I am an upcoming 8th grader a Olsen middle school, and I must say, I love it! I feel welcomed everyday that I enter the school. I am in the Gifted program, so my classes are really small, and the material is explained and taught with much more ease. My teachers,( which I've had for three years) are awesome! The sports are great also. The teams are looked at more like a family than a team, I was on the Volleyball team, and I felt accepted like any person would welcome a brother or sister.I believe that the parents are included in the school decisions. I say this because my mother is a teacher, and she tells me how parents are worried about their children's grades or whatever. But on the short..., I love 'Awesome Olsen', This school is amazing! If you want a secure learning environment, Olsen rules!

If you like safety, this school has it. I was a current student at Olsen. From my time being here, I could say that the teachers are very nice and pays full attention to everyone. They also educate you 100% of the time. This school makes you feel like you're family because they people that work here treat you like their own kids: joking around here and there, and always helping you out when you have a situation even if it doesn't have to do with school. They're the best! The activities at this school is pretty ok. I've been in the basics and I have to say that I enjoyed most of them. You don't have to be a genius to attend this school, just pay attention and do your work and you'll succeed. Best School Ever!

Hello I am a seventh grader here at Olsen and in the Gifted Program. This school, or 'Awesome Olsen,' is an excellent place to learn and make new friends. my teachers are amazing, and also have very interesting classes. We have morning announcements, 'Wave TV,' where students get to enjoy newscasting, camera, music choice, and many other things. We have sports, including softball, with the coolest coach around, Mr. Ferelli, and most of my friends (girls) play on the team. We also have soccer, basketball, track, and volleyball. The electives we have are home economics, band, teen health, P.E., Spanish, and also art. Most teachers here are quite hard, and push us to be our best.If you do thing of sending your kid here, Ms. Flynn, our principal, would welcome them with open arms.

Hiyas! I'm an eight grader here at OMS and I think this school is cool! The teachers here are so nice and it's so nice to be here. I think the quality of academic programs is pretty good and stuff. There's a ton of afterschool activities to choose from, like soccer, basketball, flag football, band, drama club, and some other stuff! Parents aren't really too involved though. This school is so great and I'll miss is so much when I finally go to high school. And like they say, this school is awesome! ~Patrick

This school is one of the best I've ever encountered. I'm a seventh grader here at olsen, in the gifted program, and I have to say I love it. Every teacher is not just nice, but gets the job done! Though *some* of the kids need attitude adjustments, I don't really mind. I have lots of friends here at olsen, and enjoy everybody. The only downside is the principal leadership- I don't even know who he/she is yet, and its almost the end of the first quarter.

The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
