My child is currently attending this school. It's our first year here. We have many issues with this school. The fences are there but they are a smokescreen. A false sense of security is instilled. The children are not safe in that school. In addition to math and reading my child has learned about sex. Thanks in part to the lack of teacher supervision. I can't wait to move back to the other school.
This school offers a lot of great programs, but due to a lot of unethical behaviors it really makes the school not worth it. I'm about ready to move up north where I don't have to feel lucky that my child is getting a good education. They will threaten to send your children back to their original schools if they are struggling, some of the people are rude, and if you have another child, unless they are going into k don't expect him to get in. Children are put into a pool and they may not ever get in. Good luck if your considering.
I left DSA last year (2010-2011). We were the first class to graduate from the new school. The school is amazing, we grown as a family there. i've been there since first grade and i couldn't think of any other school i could go to that would let me dance sing and play violin. i miss all my teachers and even the other staff. this school is small and everyone knows everyone there. this school helped me prepare so much for high school. the last day of school was the worst. everyone cried so much. because dsa was an amazing school that we were just family. i would recommend this school to any and everyone. this school has the best of the best..- <3 Chelsey k
My Son just finished Kindergarten his teacher was great and always kept me up to date on his progress
I've attended this school since kindergarten and have always loved it. This year I will leave the school and move onto high school. I kind of miss the old school, but the new school is amazing. The teachers are like no other. They sincerely care about our education and help us out the best they can. Everyday I go to school ready to be challenged, even though I don't enjoy it. I remember when the school only offered up to 5th grade and there were barely 500 students. DSA offers so many opportunities.
I am looking forward to this new building and our daughter attending Davenport School of the Arts. She will be attending grades 6, 7 and 8 starting in the school year 2011-12. This school has always been our school of choice, not it is even closer to our home, I am extremely pleased as no child learns any thing good on long bus rides to and from school.
I have been a student at DSA for 3 years and have had to move sadly it was the best school I have every went to the school i'm going to now doesn't even compare.
My kids attended Davenport from prek all the way thru 8th grade. This staff and parent involvement at this school is of the charts wonderful. The way they combine the arts in with the learning curriculum is great. My kids are so happy for the experience. The parents that don't like the school are the ones whose child probably sat in the office for misbehaving cause they don't play. Your child is there to learn and enjoy school. They will love DSA
Very disappointed with the staff, school etc. students are exposed to inappropriate views. Parents are harressed and threaten . What kind of school is this. PARENTS BEWARE!!! As for some of the teachers/staff they shouldn't be teaching.
Almost all of the teachers here are great teachers and relate well with the students. Unfortunetly all of that is worth nothing due to 1 person in particular in the office. Things got so bad at this school I had to pull my kids out just 21/2 weeks before school ended. Note that all three of my kids have scored well in that school. If I were you I would stay as far away from this school as humanly possible
