This school provides a lot of ethnic diversity. Also provides so many good electives especially the arts in general and sports. This school helped me develop a visual that helped me discover what motivated me to do something that I enjoyed. There may be fights that occur occasionally but its something that you can avoid and ignore.
Teachers try their best effort to enrich the student's mind. The school has a diversity of classes and electives which may include the arts. This school also endorses college and provide AP, honors, intensive classes etc. Despite of some fights that go around once in a while, the pros of this school overpower the small disadvantages. I definitely recommend this school.
Fights happen daily. Drugs are a major problem. The staff and faculty are constantly dealing with those issues and spend less time educating. Overcrowding is an issue and you have zero input regarding which classes your child takes, including electives.
Most teachers are dealing with a lot of problems students. Teachers are either very interested in helping, or vindictive. When you find a great teacher, and they are there, it is difficult to get into their classes.
Teachers do not maintain the required Parent Portal, provided by the Polk County School Dist. to keep students, and Parents up to date daily on grades, progress, home work assignments and missed home work . If with several teachers a parent sends an e-mail requesting this required tool, be updated, they are ignored and negative remarks are made to the student concerning the parents attempting input.
In spite of all the negative comments made by other Parents of Students enrolled a Ridge Community High School, In spite of the fact that this school is labeled as a " C " School. No doubt improvements need to be made. A Student at this location can and will succeed if he or she has the ambition and desire to do so. Our daughter is finishing 10th grade and has been accepted to the Polk State, Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School. during the next two school years she will complete 11th and 12th grades, receive her High School Diploma, and also receive a two year AA degree from Polk State College. She is so excited about being on the Polk State College campus, and attending the Collegiate Duel enrollment, as she has horror stories to tell about the Ridge Community High School Campus. Almost every day she goes from classes she see fist fights, and worst. Teaches who belittle the students with remarks that are less than encouraging. Teacher that do not on a daily basis keep the on line Parent Portal up to date, and accurate. AS taxpayers, parents and residents of Polk County we should expect nothing than the best for our teachers, administration, & staff.
