School Official Point of View

This is great school, Westlake cares about their students. The teaching staff is highly qualified, most with Master's degrees. Students are given a great learning environment with brand new E-textbooks, computer lab, library, Science lab with brand new equipment, basketball court, new playground, and fields. Great place to learn, we love Westlake, the Administrators, and teachers.

No it does not. How can you develop fairness and integrity when administration is anything but that.

I was lied to by administration. They told me that they had a set curriculum for my child but that was not true. They were supposed to use e-books but the internet never worked. my child is now 3 years behind. I know this because I got him tested.

At Westlake, good student-teacher relationships come from mutual respect and trust. The teachers at Westlake are top notch. They push our children academically but are also quick to pick up on signs of a child struggling with a certain topic or assignment. Westlake promotes and foster a safe, positive, inclusive learning community where students are known well and their social, emotional, and intellectual needs are of primary concern.

Just enough homework to allow for family time. Precept classes are included in all schedules which give students an opportunity to study and get help when needed.

My daughter has made great strides and progress. I have also noticed the care that is taken in the students.I have had the pleasure to meet all of my daughters classmates, and they are all terrific, and they may not all be on the same level but each are learning at their own pace at the proper placement they are given. They have 3 academic pathways that parents can review and tour the school about and find out if one of these are the best fit for there child. The Academy is for High Functioning special needs students with zero behavioral issues and have there own classroom areas for there main subjects but join the campus community which is a beautiful thing to see, and the Summit program is for students that have average intelligence that may be working below grade level but are mainstreamed and pulled out for academic remediation, and the Prep program is for students that are of average and above average intelligence and working at or above grade level. This year most of the students have brand new E Books . Like most schools,at the beginning they had to work out the bugs ,but Im hearing from some of my friends there children's school have had similar some issues too! Technology! lol I have read all of the other posts and the obvious disgruntled ones, and just have this to say, I was skeptical at first having my daughter at this school, but after touring the school and seeing for myself, having my daughter shadow 2 times, and monitoring her progress, I have to say I am very happy we made our own choice to send our daughter here and would advise all parents that are interested in getting away from the public school system, common core,FCAT,and any other legitimate reason your child's current situation is not the best for them, to see for yourself all the wonderful things happening at this hidden gem! I have had the pleasure to meet all of my daughters classmates, and they are all terrific, and they may not all be on the same level but each are learning at their own pace.Bottom line, my daughter is very happy, she is learning and progressing very well, all of her teachers are very hardworking, dedicated and all hold a minimum of a Bachelors degree in there subject areas, the campus is clean, spacious and beautiful, the classroom sizes are great and the student to teacher ratio is outstanding!WESTLAKE AND ITS STAFF ARE AMAZING!!!!! BULLDOGS#1

Students are held accountable for their grades and work due. if students are missing assignments, a list of the missing work is sent home weekly. Staff is always available to assist.
