This school is in need of a little more organization. Teachers are caring but newsletters are given to the students late, emails are returned a week later. Very strange since schools are saying they need more parent involvement.
The staff and administration at Somerset Academy Davie have far exceeded my expectations. I am thrilled that my son is able to attend this top notch school. My son is thriving and learning so much and loves going to school. There is great communication between me and his teacher. Mrs. Read is the most involved and caring teacher I have yet to meet. She is genuinely interested in helping your child to succeed. The only thing I would change about this school is that it would go up to middle school. :( Nothing but A+++ in my book!
This school is in desperate need of a real school building. It seems there are more students every year and not enough room. There is no cafeteria or gym. I have noticed a higher teacher turnover than I would like to see, especially in such a small school. I am disappointed in the decision the school has made to combine grades into one class. There is no real art class or PE class or music room. I am very disappointed in how my charter school experience has been.
The staff is very supportive and the after school activities are great. The diversity of the students is a great learning opportunity for the kids and the fact that it's a charter school allows parents that can't afford private schools to give their children an excellent education in a small school setting! Only downfall is the school has grown and it can't accommodate the large class size, the teacher turn over is high.It lacks in art, science, social studies.
This is my 4th year as a parent at Somerset Davie and I am so please with the academic program the school offers for both my children. The school has continued to promote a quality education and the teachers are 100% dedicated to the students. The school has grown tremendously and I believe it's because of the wonderful staff and parental involvement inside the school that makes it a true learning community.
Somerset is a small school and has that small town feeling where everyone knows each other. Most of the parents are really involved This involvement benefits the children and they feel safe and secure at Somerset. The down side is lack of space for a cafeteria, art, music rooms and a very small library. Overall, the school has been a good experience. I would recommend to others.
Great School, small class sizes, close knit community
The school is absolutely beautiful. However, we need more administration.
We are starting our second year at Somerset Davie and could not be happier. From the teachers to the principal and everyone in between the staff has been very supportive and helpful. My son loves it. It has been such a positive experience. His test scores have been outstanding! Thank you to all the Somerset staff!
A wonderful school offering a great learning enviornment for our children. The teachers and staff are so nice and helpful and really care about the children. The education is grade A with the children learning on a level far beyond the traditional public school system. They have an open door policy for all of the parents and curb side drop off is optional feel free to walk your children in and out and any time you need to speak with your teacher, principal, asst principal or any of the staff just walk in and say hi no appt necessary they are always there for you. This school has provided an excellent alternative to private schools which would not measure up anyway. There is a real sense of a family atmosphere in a warm, caring and friendly atmosphere. The best part is the ability to be involved in your childs education. Grade A!
