AEF is an excellent school. The children are happy there. The teachers do a great job. The school has EARNED an excellent academic reputation. I m sorry for the parents who have had bad experiences here. That has not been my experience. This is an excellent school and it is because of the commitment as a parent and staff to help my son do well and get good grades, I hear from my son how the teachers are always there, always around, talking with them, encouraging them. As a parent that makes me feel good. I want the school staff to be supportive and attentive to my child. That my son receives a good education, feels comfortable, safe and even happy at his school is the best I could hope for. My best advise for parents who are looking for an alternative education is to do your homework tour the school ask questions , view the web site, trust your instincts .

Not the best school if you are looking for education. The school can have better communication skills. There are no IEPs if you want outside services like speech and OT.

It a okay school.I would recommend this school for special need kids. But for advance kids the program here are nowhere near challenging. The front office admin are not that friendly. The best teacher their is Mr.Marrero very very kind guy has a passion for teaching. The worst teacher there would be the the science teacher and the art teacher. My son came home saying that the science teacher was very boring and the art teacher likes to send kids out of class. My son doesn't goto to this school anymore.

The pressure of FCAT was too much for my child and the constant drama with school bullies. This school has done wonders at building back my sons confidence, organizational skills, and just wanting to participate in school activities again. Kentwood's friendly staff truly cares for the well being of the students. I love the curriculum, when he was in public school he had the worst handwritting, the teacher would just give him incomplete for a grade, today his writting is neat and his grades make us proud.

Our son continues to excell at Kentwood since my last review posted in March 2009. This year he was given a certificate for Academic Achievement and was on the school Honor Society. We are quite proud of him and love the teachers. They all treat each student with respect, fairness and patience and receive it back ten-fold. The additions to the programs get better each year with focus on academic and social needs and requirements. We could be happier. Hooah Kentwood!

Our son had come from a really abominable public school ESE placement and a subsequent private shool placement where they met none of his academic needs. Kentwood has been an absolute Godsend for us. Our son is happy and excelling in his studies. When he arrived, he could not read or do arithmetic and now he is working at grade level or above in all subjects. He has made friends and loves his teachers. The staff and methods at Kentwood are truly exceptional: each student is seen as the individual they are and treated with love and respect. We really don't know what we would do without Kentwood and thank God every day we found it.

Kentwood is the answer to my prayers. I have seen great improvement in my son. We are lucky to have an alternative to public school that works. I love the individualized attention and excelllent communication the teachers provide. I trust them completely and i do not trust many people when it comes to my child!

I am proud to work with the staff members at Kentwood. They are dedicated, hard working, and empathetic. We all work extremely hard and our days are lengthy and mentally exhausting, however, we see the fruits of our labors. Every day children smile and share their lives with us. Every week another family thanks us for changing their lives. Every year we send more graduates to University, College, and the work force fully prepared for awaiting challenges. We do make a difference. We might not be successful with every student and family (who is?); but we try our best and our commitment and effort is never questioned. Our program may not be right for every child or every parent. However, for the children and parents our program is right for, we are extremely successful and our results cannot be challenged.

This is my son's 3rd year at Kentwood and we could not be happier with his progress. The teachers and staff are amazing - so much patience and kindness! They really give each student alot of individual attention and the results are great! My son now takes responsibility for his actions, is more socially aware, has better impulse control, is better able to express himself, has learned alot academically, is more self confident and happier. Every day I am grateful for Kentwood!

Kentwood is THE BEST School of its kind and at what they do. My son entered there in 7th Grade and is now ready to Graduate and enter Collage. The school has grown from a one campus(broward) under 100 students to its current full blown 2 campus fully accredited High School Program. I thank GOD for the day my family and The Kentwood Family crossed paths.

Kentwood is a school for children who do not do well in a typical school setting. Our program is individualized to meet our students' needs, whether behavioral, academic, etc. Since I started teaching here, I've seen students transform from insecure or frustrated children into confident, happy, and successful students. It is amazing and rewarding to be able to work here and see the effects of the program on these students and their families.

If your child has behavior issues, this is the best school. If you need a school that focuses on academics, then look elsewhere.

Kentwood provides a setting for students who need extra help with social, physical and problem-solving skills. I have seen so many extraordinary changes in students of all ages since I have began teaching at Kentwood. We nuture and strengthen their assets and work on improving their weaknesses. Our program works and it shows in our students!

My child has attended this Kentwood for 3 years now and could not be happier! Although I feel the school could do better job with academics, I think they do a wonderful job at teaching these 'sometimes very difficult children' the skills they'll need to survive and succeed in life. My child has improved immensely to the point that she now has and kept many friendships, something she wasn't able to do in a Public School Setting, she has confidence in herself and her social and behavioral have improved so much that I have family members asking me what I did to change it! The staff are great and seem to really enjoy working with these children. My only concern again is the academics, which they've been trying to improve! FIVE STARS KENTWOOD! KEEP DOING A GREAT JOB!

My son had many challenges being in a group setting. However, has an IQ of 138. We needed a school that would focus on teaching him how to behave in a classroom, respect his teachers, peers and parents. We needed a school that would motivate, encourage and elevate his own leadership abilities and self confidence. Because if he is not able to master basic life skills, how much academics he learns is useless. This is our 2nd year at Kentwood. We are returning next year, too. My son is succeeding for the first time in a school/group setting thanks to the staff and teachers at Kentwood.

Kentwood is the best thing that has ever happened for my son and for me!! This is his 6th year at the school. All of his teachers have been fantastic, and the support when I need help with him and his behaviors are readily available. I don't know what I would have done if I had not found this school for him. He gets help in a loving and supportive way, and the staff are great at helping me with questions and concerns. Thanks to everyone at Kentwood!! You are the best!!

My child attended ninth grade at Kentwood. I felt the teachers had more problems than the students...and the course studies where lacking. When I transfered my son to the public system he was so far behind he required tutors. He is now a straight A student after having to make up much work. As far as I'm concerned the experience was a total waste of my childs time and my resources.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
