Basilica School of St. Paul

Basilica School of St. Paul is an excellent school, the teachers are caring and the kids are well- behaved.Mr. Davis, Math and Social Studies teacher is excellent. Ms. Landys is loving and friendly teacher. Student-teacher ratio is superb and has good religious practice that we can't get in public school. Students has a lot of oppurtunities to learn but I think my kid is not challenge on the level of teaching. He has less homework and activities to do after school.I am expecting for interschool participation of the student like Spelling Bee.I think the school need more funds that student will be benefited for more educational activities.It would be nice if we can get scholarship next school year so that we can see if there's changes in their curriculum. All the teachers seems trying their best to give best education to the student. I will recommend this school to my friends.

I had experienced three principles with the Basilica of St. Paul catholic school and I had noticed that the principle Miss Toro is the worst principle in terms of leadership, management, and decision making. Also, she indicated in one of the meetings that I had with her that she cannot ensure the safety of my son due to lack of her confidents and ability to manage or direct the school. Kids in her school bring knifes, as well as fight with each other, but she does not take any action to solve the problems. She acts as a dictator, and the staffs are afraid of her due to creating unhealthy environment. I do believe is the fault of the diocese in Orlando that they hired unqualified professional like (Miss Toro) to lead their schools. I am catholic and proud to be catholic. But, the diocese needs to shape their leadership style and start bringing qualified people to lead their catholic schools.

My review/opinion has changed ( has it really been 5 years since the original review?) with the loss of the wonderful middle school teachers. They have all 'retired' after the new principals came ( note the plural) and I have moved my children to another local catholic school.

Nine years ago we moved to the Daytona Beach area and interviewed the principals and toured three local Catholic schools. We chose St. Paul Catholic School and have sent our six children there. There are three main reasons. Things change, people come and go but the basic character of St. Paul's is still going strong. Our first most important reason is the strong religious training, the adherence to the magistrum of the Catholic Church, and the participation in the sacrament and masses. All of these are reinforcing the values we try to teach at home. Secondly, we send our children to St. Paul's for the high academic standards and expectations. And thirdly, we feel the school atmosphere of small classes, caring teachers and administration, and the family supportive atmoshere is the best for our children. We strongly recommend St. Paul's.

I am a graduate of St. Paul (now Basilica of St. Paul). My daughter has been a student there since Kindergarten & loves it. The school is always looking to make improvements, while focusing on education & Christian morales. I am not Catholic, but have always felt I received a great foundation for life & my daughter will do the same by attending BSSP.

Some of the teachers are wonderful like the kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Roberge. Others are just putting in their time and don't challenge students. My child attended for two years but I couldn't see paying so much for a curricular that didn't challenge him. There was no instrument instruction, no real computer instruction, and few enriching activities. Parent pickup is organized by constricted by the location of the school. Really depends on the teacher you get.

St. Paul's is a great school. Principal Havens really cares about how the children act and learn. Although the school is older it allows the children to concentrate on academics and the basic ability to learn.

I am beyond pleased with the middle school at St. Pauls Catholic, it is such a difficult age for kids and they ( teachers and staff) have such a good handle of all aspects of the early teen years. My younger children are happy and doing well in the school as well. I feel the discipline is mising in public schools (at this time) necessary to promote learning and respect for all.

This school is not only academically high but they also are condcerned about developing the individual child. They stress being good christians and work on each childs self esteem. My children love the school and are doing excellent.
