Lourdes Academy is a great school! My children have been at Lourdes Academy for the past 7 years and this year has been the best yet! With the new adminstration, the energy is positive and the students are focused on respect, reponsibility and right choices.I see in each of my children gaining loving and caring attitudes with well rounded decision making skills to excel academically and with daily life lessons choices. The wide selection of extra circular activities allows each of my children to choose the right activity for them. We have experienced volleyball, basketball, chorus, band, sign language classes, and spiritual ministries (alter serving, lectors, ushers, and music ministry). My children are touched daily is a faith-filled and loving principal, teachers and staff. I am thankful when I leave them in the morning for school I know in the afternoon that they will only become better students and Christians.

Check out the school's website! Visitors to our school constantly comment that we have smiling students, caring teachers, a new principal (as of July 2010), and a wonderful family environment. Lourdes Academy IS a Catholic School of Excellence!

We are not satisfied with the fact that our children's school is so far behind the times. This school uses many books that Volusia County Schools use yet certain teachers fail to use these books, leaving parents at a loss as to what their children are actually learning. When our children go on to public high schools, we feel they will suffer tremendously. For administration, please utilize the books that we pay for. As parents, we praise the teachers who have chosen to remain with a school that is failing. Thank you to the teachers and staff who have left or soon will. We know you believe in our children. It is the unfair administrative decisions that have failed this school. Administration & Parish Staff, please learn from your mistakes. Thank you.

As volunteers for school and parish for years, we are disheartened by the decreased parishioners. Our parish was once the best Catholic Church in area, not today. Teachers are hardpressed to work with such unruly and disrespectful children especially the 5th through 8th graders. Discipline consists of one hour detentions after school for one day. Back In our day, we would have to scrub the bathrooms, blackboards, sweep and mop floors on a Saturday for eight hours! We believe today's children would think twice if they knew one or two of their Saturdays would be spent doing hard labor at school. Try it. We would not recommend this school if it doesn't change its discipline practices.

The Lourdes Academy community cares and treasures each and every one of its students. We strive to help them 'bloom where they're planted' spiritually, academically, physically.

I have 4 children in this school. My oldest will be graduating next year and my youngest is in Early Childhood Center. They love their school. Each child is unique but the teachers work on fostering skills that will help each child to become independent thinkers that crave more education. The best part is community: the close connection all of the children have with each other. It is great when preschool children can refer to a seventh grader by name and vise versa. PE and sports, music, & art are not always offered at elementary and middle schools. I recommend this school to any parent who wants their child to grow up strong, loving, and well rounded.

It's more than a school, it's a family within a school! These teachers teach more than ABC's they show them compassion, understanding, and give them encouragement. The kids in turn, will take that with them forever!

Lourdes is a very close knit community. Everyone knows and cares for each other. Education is a top concern but 'repect, responsibility, and right choices' go hand in hand.

Through all our ups and downs, working as a family, our school community gets better and better with each passing year. We DO make a difference!

My daughter has a mild learning disability known as central auditory processing disorder. We have had her in two schools prior to Lourdes. One private and one public. The other schools did not take the time or resources to work with her and she was not learning anything and was failing tests. when I inquired at the public middle school, they told me there was nothing they could for her. Lourdes has been wonderful. The teachers are in communication with me every day. They work with my daughter and give her extra time to complete assignments. They encourage her strenghts. But most importantly she is learning. Her self esteem has greatly improved and she is getting B's an C's. Lourdes cares about the students in every aspect and I see that over and over on a daily basis. I am so happy to be part of this wonderful community.
