People in charge have much to learn about how to treat children. A little bit of compassion goes a long way.
Wonderful school, great PTA and aftercare program. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves. The principal is very involved.
Just like other parents posting I agree 100% that this is a great school. My daughter is in kindergarten and has some attention and behavioral issues that were a problem right at the beginning of the school year. I asked for a conference immediately. And the teacher, vice principal and I worked together and now my daughter behaves and pays attention so much better. I think all teachers have email so I was able to communicate with the teachers thru email. The school is up to date, contemporary and very organized.
i love this school i am a part of the pta and i cant say enough about the wonderful teachers that we have thank god!!!!!! these teachers care about these kids
It is an A rated school in Florida. The teachers are great and really care about the students. They have go out of their way to do whatever is necessary to work with students and families and really help bring 'community' into the school.
Both my children went to this school so my heart has always been with this shcool, since it was built. I have give $500.00 to that school to help the other children that go there. They rate the schools in Florida using a grading system of A-F, with A being the best and DeBary Elementary has always received an A.
The principal, Mr. Rawlings has shown more dedication than I have ever seen from a director in a primary school. I am so pleased with him! The teachers have a great curriculum and are very creative!
The Debary Elementary School teachers and staff are an amazing crew that teach the children with compassion, deligence, and pride. I am very grateful to the staff at Debary Elementary for all that they do.
DEbary Elementary is an outstanding school. The teachers are compassionate and work hard to see that the students do their best. The principal and vice principal are role models for our children treating them with respect and leading the school to be the great school it is. I am pround to enroll my child here and feel comfortable that they are getting what they need to move on to middle school.
I think that this school is extraordinary in all areas. I believe that the principal, Mr. Atkinson, deserves a lot of credit for all that has been accomplished since he has been in this school. He goes about doing what has to be done in a very quiet manner, but does what has to be done, and isn't that what we really need, as students, parents, guardians, teachers, etc. We are proud that our teachers at this school treat our students with respect and that our students/children are being taught to show the same respect back to the teachers. I believe with all my heart that we have the best teachers and students to be found. Keep it up, Debary, and THANK YOU.
This is my son's second year at this school and his teacher this year is just as good, if not better then last year. From what I have experienced the staff is excellent, and my son is doing well and really likes his shcool.
My daughter has beeen going to this school since the first grade and has thrived as an individual both scholastically and personally. Wonderful teachers, could not ask for a better school for my child!!!!!!
I give this school a D-. Changes in principle, teachers who have 'pet students,' work that is not challenging, a guidance counselor who utilizes her own personal problems as a guideline for making recommendations to parents with their own children, over crowded school, children who are allowed to be disrespectful to others and use inappropriate language (maybe that is a parenting issue and not a school issue). I am unhappy with this school on many levels. What is good with this school? It is clean and well kept, Principle Atkinson is willing to work with parents (for the most part, when he makes the time to do so), the nurse is very nice and extra curricular activities have improved this year.
This school has a wonderful teaching staff and great administrators! Both my children go here and I absolutely think it is top notch.
I LOVE this school! Both my children have been here since kindergarden & are onto middle school next year. I have friends whose children have gone on to middle school and they can't believe how truly 'spoiled' we are (were) by the staff here. I & my children will truly miss this school...
DeBary Elementary School is a wonderful school. My son's Teacher is exceptional and really works one on one with his students to help them. The staff and administrators are great. The school has a very open line of communication with the parents and wonderful programs to include parents. I volunteer in my child's classroom and am very pleased with the cooperation in letting Parents help out. A+ school.
I have two boys who attend DeBary Elementary and I am extremely thankful to have them attend such a involved and caring school. Don't get me wrong, there have been issues but none that have not been addressed by school officials. I would like to see the children have more in school activities that they can express all that energy they have. Sometimes the children seem as if they are being herded from one thing to another with little time to be a child.
The teachers have been wonderful at DeBary Elementary. They are very professional, know how to help each child to meet thier educational needs, and are very involved. I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the school, as I was considering a private school as an alternative option since my son attended a prep pre-school. But, I am very happy that I decided to try the school and would recommend it. The 'A' rating is deserved.
Debary Elementary is extremely overcrowded in K-2nd grades. They have 40-42 kids in classes with two teachers and a part time assistant. The kids do not get the extra help they need because the teachers do not have the time to help each one at their different levels.
4 principles in 5 years, I witnessed a teacher pulling a child by his arm (roughly and almost enough to be considered child abuse)off stage last year, and the school nurse calls me at work for what is clearly NOT an emergency. My child was five feet from my car, but not allowed to step in...I had to drive all the way to the end of the pick up/drop off 'area.' I have no other choice but to send my child to this school. My child was in private school. I have seen a change in behavior (unhappy) despite waiting out the 'adjustment' period. Most of the staff members seem VERY nice. I haven't bothered to meet this principle...what's the point? Lastly, any school that has portables is clearly over crowded. I have no problem with the academics or my child's teacher.
