My child entered Kindergarter at this school after attending a Montessori school for two years. The difference is night and day! I'm extremely disappointed thus far, although I'm desperately trying to keep an open mind until the Teacher/Parent Conference in September. His classroom has 31 children and only one teacher. His classwork is at a Pre-K3 level. (Ex. Coloring squares, circles, etc.; practicing the number 1 or downward stroke; and drawing a line from left to right.) I've just found out they don't offer advanced/gifted programs until 2nd grade. I'll probably need to transfer him back to a private school; It would be sad for him to loose his basic reading and math skills during the next two years. Shame on Eugenia B. Thomas Elementary School for failing those children whom are the most excited about learning.
My son have gone to EBT since they were 5 years old. EBT is a good school. But a think that the award proccess could be different, because the kids maybe being labeled as the smart or not. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child.
Great people, they helped me as fast that was as humanly possible. And they explained everything to me until I understood it. And like I said before it was done in record time.
My child moved from the Sarasota area to Miami and is having a culture intergration process. The office staff and teachers seem to understand thelanguage barriers and attempt to eliminate problems with assistance for English only students.
Eugenia B. Thomas is a great school. The standards are set up high and there is encouragement and motivation for students. The quality of teachers is great and the administration is cooperative. The parents in this school are pleased with the effort the staff makes to help children succeed.
Overall is Good. Excellent facilities, excellent discipline, excellent security. Need to improve Sports that is important to have mental and physical health of the students, into the regular program and with extracurricular activities. Excellent programs to FCAT preparation.
Limited availability of extracurricular activites. In our experince, one of three teachers does not have the proper pedagogic preparation, the other two were great teachers.
There are no extracurricular activities for the children (i.e., reading clubs, newsletters, sports teams) which I think is crucial for any child's overall development and enrichment.
This is a very good school. The building is brand new and the teachers are very well prepared. Classrooms are big and the groups are not too crowded.
overall is excellent, but the after school care teachers should focus more in helping the kids w/homework making them understand the homework not just doing it because the have to do it.
Is a great school with high level of quality in education and discipline. The teachers take good care of the childs and the school has a high standard of quality in the building.
