I was the former flying L (c/o 03). I love the school becuase their got great promgams, education, and after school(Band and etc). The worst I hate about the school is less pep rallies (during my senior year) people make u feel bad/make fun of u, smokeing at the bathroom, teahers just yell at u for no reason, and lots of things I hate for FLHS. If your child is going to FLHS next year, please chat with him or her, becuase friends is not your friends. Even your child has special needs, becuase if he or she got a b/f or g/f or friends...their going to be broke your heart or something else. HUST BE POUD OF WHO U ARE ABD WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF. AND NEVER GIVE UP YOUR DREAMS!!!!!!!!!! BECUASE IT NEVER STOP ME FOR MY GOALS.
My third child is now in attendance at FLHS. It is an amazing multi-cultural urban environment to prepare a student for success in the real world. With an Advanced Placement and Law magnet programs it makes available a wonderful opportunity for college bound students. The programs for classes in conjunction with the local college and student career work courses provides an ability for others not seeking immediate post secondary education to enter the work force prepared and often with a job. The school is as safe as any other, if not more so than private institutions with homogenous more affluent student bodies, who can afford the time and costs of 'recreational activities'. As the oldest high school in the county with over $22 million in renovations and new facilities under construction it is certainly a school on the upward swing - good and getting better!
My child goes to Fort Lauderdale High School. Its not safe. There are drugs and violence that can be tamed and there are teachers that don't know how to express themselves well enough to educate! I regret my daughter going there. I have neighbors that change adresses so there children will not go there! Now I know why, its very dangerous. Now what kind of school is this and where are the adults responsible for making sure that my daughter is okay! Kids are cruel and have no compassion for there school mates. Something has to be done please! Have a student meeting and the principal speak out on the concequences.
