I love this school and the staff.. Mrs. Pierce is awsome.. and everyone is great!..... I love that the school has great security and also my daughter is in honors. and she loves her teachers.. never heard complaints from her and she would have told me immediately. Recommend this school a lot!. Kids are from good families.. that care ! and the high School Environment is A+ to me. I looked around at other schools.. and forget it. she has to stay here.. until she graduates... it is worth the tuition.. truly PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS have the worst environment
I just graduated from archbishop mccarthy this year and I believe our school is better than many public schools academically. i've taken as many ap and honors courses as i could and i'll be able to go to college with over 40 college credits due to the dual enrollment program. If students put effort into their education they will be prepared to do well in college with this school, not just be prepared to get into college (like many public schools do)
Amazing School, the new principal had made do many wonderful changes. Academically it is striving for perfection. Spiritually, the students are guided in the right direction. I never feel out of the circle, Im informed of everything and anything going on in my child's education. The teacher are approachable, helpful and sincerly care.
Best High School in Fort Lauderdale area. More than 98% of the students are admitted to the best programs and universities.
Probably the most affordable private school in town, with the best catholic education. The school prepare the students to enter into the best universities. It is amazing how well the students in general behave in and out of the school. Ethics, moral, catholic and academic preparation are tied together to help students to succeed. Is not free, is not cheap, but is not the most expensive and way out better than public HS.
Big waste of my time and money! the education honestly is not that great and they give too many regular courses in which other schools encourage you to take Honors and AP . This school is the opposite of college prep and is a waste i will never send one of my kids there ever again !
I am a student at AMHS and this is my senior year. The teachers themselves are nice, and most of them the student will like, but some of them are awful. I have talked to my friends that left for other schools and there seems to be no difference. The school has a major effciency problem. Several seniors, including myself, have had trouble getting the school to send out our transcripts to colleges. We have to be constantly harrassing the guidance department. It's all about the money at that school. The student center has awful food most of the time, whether in taste, quality, or health, and it's overpriced. A salad and bottled water costs around seven dollars. Parents be warned, even if you do your service hours you may still be billed the $250 like mine were!! (Lots of potheads too!!)
I have two kids at AMHS and they love the school and their teachers. I'm glad when I pick them up at the school and they smile at you saying 'I love my school' or 'I had a great day' It's all worth it; the money is well spend.
It's my junior year and i have to say that this is one of the best high schools I've ever known. The teachers push you to do above and beyond anything you ever thought you could do. The academics are top-notch and the courses are designated so that you take the challenging courses, the ones that colleges look at the most. They truly prepare you for college-level academics with AP courses available from sophomore year. All in all I would definitely recommend this school to anyone looking for a school that prepares their child for college.
I have three children who have grown up in the Catr=holic School system. My youngest started at McCarthy this year, and I will be pulling him out at the end of this year. They are all about money. If you have it, you write your own ticket. If you don'y, good luck !
One of the better, affordable private schools in the area. The stringent rules do get excessive and sometimes seem to take time and resources away from actual teaching, but overall, almost everyone in my graduating class went on to college - most to some of the better state schools. For those who aspire to higher ranked national universities (top 20ish), don't expect the guidance department to help you get there. Facilities are pristine.
I have two kids that attend this school, my kids came from a public school and I thank God that I was able to remove them from the public school system. This school is preparing them for college unlike the school that they attended, public schools are to busy concentrating on the FACTS, thats their mission and only mission. Now I know my kids will have a chance to go to college.
It is not micromanaged. In fact, they delagate quite well. Also, it is a newer school and is still experimenting with what does and does not work for the betterment of the student, as well as the school community as a whole.
Way toomuch micromanagement and too many inconsistancies in policies. The only thing that makes this school anything close to normal is the tremendous efforts of the coached and the fine arts department and how they constantly take us out of that school on trips, competitions, sports events, etc.. and make us see that their is and actual life. the administration is extreamly strict. I can say something good about this school. It has a great band program that actually represents our school very well. And thats about it!
I graduated in 06 and I will honestly say that I miss high school for some of the teachers and fellow classmates. The school in all honesty was not the greatest. It was overpriced for the information we got.It was supposed to be college prep but it really was not. Both my brother and sister graduated before me at the school. My younger sister is not attending the school do to the fact that my parents tried three times and never got satisfaction of the school.
Our son is a Junior. This is an excellent school. Good Christian environment...strict but caring. Students leave well prepared for college.
The Principal leadership and teacher quality at this school are unparalleled. I graduated 5 years ago from this school and went on to New York University with a scholarship. The academics are an excellent foundation for college. The safety and structure of the atmosphere at this school are conducive to the learning environment and set it far apart from other high schools. Once again the dedication of the faculty, staff, and Principal are worthy of recognition and have my gratitude for their very positive impact in my life. This is a first class high school institution.
I am going into my fourth year at AMHS and think that it is a fine place for higher learning. AMHS curriculum is for those who are motivated and ready to work hard. The teachers are pure quality at McCarthy, always willing to help and spend time with the students, even outside regular school hours. A Catholic environment is clearly present, which makes the student body be more united, and spiritually focused than those who attend others schools. As a member of the Drama program, I can honestly say that talent, and dedication is always present in the schools performing arts. The Administration does seem to favor the sports teams (which are no good) over the excellent Fine Arts students and National Chess Team Champions. However, other than that, the school works effectively and efficiently. My experience has been nothing but pleasant. Go Mavericks!
My sons have both attended Arch Bishop Mc Carthy and I have found that this school promotes academics and education. The structure and environment of the school is excellent and it provides a strong spiritual and safe setting for student to learn. The school still has a ways to go to compete with Saint Thomas Aquinas but it has a charm all it's own. The sports programs are still growing but have future potential. I would recommend this school to others.
