Gateway is not what the claim they are totally ridiculous you can never find nobody to talk to when you call plus the teachers are so rude to the kids they need more patient and know how to teach.

If you are looking for a babysitting service, GICS is it. Terrible teachers, even worse administration.

Gateway is not for the success of students at all. It is a company, and all it cares about are enrollment numbers and money. Discipline is non-existent; the entire building is a fire hazard; and the teachers are considered disposable. This is not the atmosphere you want your child to be in 5 days of the week...

School has terrible academics and is a dangerous place. Bullying is a real problem. They choose to ignore the problem and hope it goes away. They are not able to handle the issue as they do not have the staff to do so. The school is a private corporation that does not fall under the Lee County Schools guidelines. They are free to run it any way they choose. Their primary focus is money. They only prepare the students to do well on the FCATs so they can get funding. After seeing the substandard education my child was receiving I pulled him out and put him in a school that could better prepare him for college.

Pros: Solid discipline standards. Above-average academics. Safe. Great parent/teacher interaction through web-based communication system. Great feedback regarding assignment questions and grades. Teachers really seem to care about their students. Cons: Number of volunteer hours required is much too high for single-parent and/or multi-student families. Limited daily transportation. No school transportation for participating students on sports teams. Huge annual expense for purchasing school supplies and uniforms. Budget at least $350 for each child. Crowded hallways. No lockers for lower grades. Challenging lunch menu (not very good according to my kids).

My daughter has gone to school here for a total of 4 years now. There have been some issues, but have been dealt with promptly and I was well informed through the process of resolution. There are some things that I would fix (transportation issues, and revolving teachers) but all in all, this is a great school. I would, and have, recommended this school to others. If you are looking for a quality education then this is the place. If you need some place to have your kid coddled, then this is not the place!

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
