There are times when students need help working through problems or disagreements. ECS is good about giving students this time as needed. It helps to teach them how to work through things in a productive manner.
ECS works with a diverse population of students. They offer weekly help classes for students who may struggle with a concept. They have teachers who tutor students who need additional help. The Lower School even has a gifted elective for 3rd-6th grade students who qualify.
I attended ECS years ago as did my brother. When Mr. and Mrs. Dunn ran the school what a wonderful place it was!!!! I put my daughter at ECS when she was 10 months old at the preschool. She had a pretty good experience- there was quite a turn over in teachers and the head of the preschool. She then continued on to the "big" school as they call it- the main school where K4-12th grades are. She had a wonderful K4 teacher but after that it was pretty much down hill. Most of the teachers don't want to be bothered with questions or explaining. There is one parent there as well that basically runs the school. We decided to make a change when my daughter entered 4th grade and put her at a public school. The school went based on her grades from ECS which were straight A's and put her in the top level 4th grade class. She struggled tremendously. A few other families had changed over as well from ECS and weren't even put in the higher level class and were still struggling! All of them were behind tremendously in math and English! Pathetic when you pay 10k a year! ECS has become all about the status. Who you are in town and how much money you have is what they care about. It's sad as this was not the foundation Mr.Dunn intended for his school. There are a lot of bullies that attend this school and because of who their families are there is no disicipine as they are catered to. I have kept in touch with friends that graduated ECS and most did not attend college! True story. If you are looking for a Christian school that is academically good, ECS is not it! They do not live like christians - they are controlling, unkind, the atmosphere is cold, and they are all about status - nothing like a Christina atmosphere! Academically as I stated they are very behind. I wish I would have made the move sooner as I truly feel it is not a Christina of foundation or worth the money spent. Please take this review seriously.
